The typical SakuMei setup is boring. Sakuya is a violent tsundere or something while Meiling gets knifed.

Meanwhile, Rinnosuke and Sakuya are able to engage in meaningful converse.
I especially like the stories where their romance is subtle but very present.

Personally, I think you're wrong and that SakuRin is better. In my opinion, Sakuya cannot shine when she is with Remilia. Her status as a servant to her makes me feel that she is being tied down. It feels almost stagnate.

Meanwhile, with Rinnosuke, she is able to explore a relationship outside of her occupation.
It is a refreshing change.

In this relationship, she is able to blossom as an actual girl. Since Rinnosuke is a man and also not human, he is able to bring out Sakuya's natural femininity while keeping in mind of Sakuya's dislike of humans.

Sakuya is disconnected to normal humans.
Rinnosuke's case is also mostly the same because of his status as a half youkai.

So their interest in each other would be a natural and logical occurrence.

And as I have stated before, Rinnosuke possesses an intellect that can match with Sakuya. Not only that, but their similar appearances make them look well suited for each other. When you put Sauya and Rinnosuke together, one could only think that they complement each other.

It's also a relationship that has family as being a future prospect since they are a man and a woman. If one looks at it that way, it is an objectively better pairing simply because of that fact.

Yuri makes sense in Touhou, though. The vast majority of the cast is female.

Rinnoske with Marisa is probably the only pairing that makes sense for him.

For everyone else, it's either asexuality or yuri with a few exceptions.

The Tengu community, human village, Kappa community, ect are probably straight. So Aya, Momiji, Nitori and the like.

Then you have isolated, one of a type, or childlike youkai who are probably asexual. Too childlike to think about romance, no sexual organs/hormones since they don't reproduce; who knows? But if they can value companionship, they'll simply like whoever they come into contact eventually excluding humans since they're food and all.

Well, it depends. I agree with you on pairing and graphic style, they are mostly subjective, and thus everyone should be allowed to like what he wants.

But some anime are objective shit. You can like them, but if you like them that makes you someone with bad taste. Some VNs or VN makers (like Nasu) are objective shit, too. Again you are allowed to like them, but it's only the proof of your inadequacy with all manner of good taste.
