Yeah he was really great although I did like Eru, Saku and Mitori quite a bit too. And with everyones halos there few hints to what they could be, protags could probably be red herrings though but I doubt they withhold it too much once the shit starts to happen.

That vocabulary and prose, it's nice to see a writer who actually know Japanese after the drought of the last few months, 2014 is looking like to be an awesome year.

Poor girl, I get that she's not going to be exactly in good terms with Shinri, but I hope she gets some kind of side route like the red head in &.
I'm honestly curious about Sorako, what she described her halo to be sounded too nice and simple for etoile-level.

>> No.11855613

I wouldn't say that Sorako halo is that simple, it's just unrefined, just see her reaction to protag and Taigi, its definately "dangerous" ability if it developes more which it definately will whats with the statement Tokino made.

Also hope that Mitori gets some good scenes atleast considering how her relationship to protag was setup so far.

Honestly, I think that with enough will, effort, and a considerable amount of grammar knowledge, you can actually pull yourself through a VN. For unknown kanji, either looking up or using a text hooker is more than enough. I even remember someone commenting here that started reading VNs and stopped studying japanese just 6 months after starting. It might be an exageration, but it's not really surprising that some people are able to learn the language just by bruteforcing their way through. Even then, I agree that asking for recommendations here is silly. Mainly because there's this thing called "archive".

So I guess that even if the translastion is not really good, it probably relies in the gameplay element than things such as writing. I haven't played it yet though so I'm using what people told me about it's gameplay aspects that are quite unusual and very interesting.

For a random comment, it's kind of funny that the epilogue is referred as komoe's route in the scripts

- They just want to play around with their names (車の人)
- Use a different name for games with hardcore content and softer games. (汐見凛 = 遠野そよぎ)
- Swich to a new name after some years, probably because consumers don't like to think of the young fictional characters as voiced by old women. (五行なずな → 北見六花)

Finished エーテルの砂時計, it's by the author of Hello, World which is why I tried it.
It was pretty short, probably less than 1mb of text
Anyways it was weird, at times (mostly during the fights) it was written pretty brilliantly, the protagonist was pretty awesome and there was a decent setting and plot somewhere but everything about the slice of life and heroines was pretty terrible, which is bad since the game itself has pretty huge focus on them with most of the actual narration being from them even.
The plot itself had potential but went far too fast to deliver anything substantial, it always kill me when a game like spend half of its time on inane slice of life while glossing over an actually really elaborated setting.

For other things, the game has a LOT of animations, during ero scenes or during the fights, the production values are pretty high, too bad the art is terrible so all that effort end up mostly for naught.

Anyways it's not a landmine, the second half of the game was pretty passable if too much on fast forward (game is mostly straight road by the way, you get to choose one of the 3 heroine in the last chapter but it changes pretty much nothing), the setting is nice and there was some decent moments (mostly with the protag messing with people) and some cool and pretty well written fights but it's not something I'd recommend.

As I said it's something only novel readers can do in few minutes.
I can only suggest, say, 6 titles at most.
Lovely x cation 2, flyable heart, hanahira for moege.
Axanael, sumaga, himawari for plot driven novels.
Never read untranslated nukige, so I can't talk about them. I guess bishoujo mangekyou should be fine.
>>11865358
If you don't like this idea then don't complain when you find dozens of "which novel is easy to read" posts.
I'm only starting it to avoid them.

He's not the first anon who complained even though it's the only one in this thread, and it's true such posts could be avoided with a simple chart.

If we were to make a chart just for "babby's first" VNs, not for higher levels of Japanese, >>11865417 seems like a solid start. Maybe a total of 5-8 titles each for moege and plot-driven?

>> No.11865473

You people are goddamn retarded.
The reason why this whole reading diffiulty chart thing is looked down upon here is that it makes no sense. People who ask for "easy to read" stuff make no sense. You're either proficient in the language to a high degree or you aren't. The novel either contains a lot of highly specific/artsy vocab/writing or (in most cases) it doesn't. These are the only somewhat meaningful distinctions that can be made. If your Japanese is shit Flyable Heart is going to give you trouble just like everything else.

>> No.11865476

>Maybe a total of 5-8 titles each for moege and plot-driven?
It's not a matter of number, just suggest as many titles as you can think about and then someone will pack them in an image or a text file.
Quantify their difficulty is more tedious and can be skipped.

But if you've just learnt Japanese you can't try reading asairo or albratross, while flyable heart could be understable.
It's obvious you have to know something about Japanese in order to read an easy moege otherwise you won't get anything, but there are titles more accessible for novices due to their relative simple prose or writing style.
I don't think your first untranslated novel was a liar soft game.
