I have talked with so many older fans as well. I think we all knew that MM would not last forever, and certainly last the same way forever and it would lose popularity. I look up minimoni things and for some reason have a grudge against Morning Musume for one reason or another..stupid reasons I'm sure.

Few weeks go by, i'm on *chan. Find a link to "Aitakatta" I realize 'hey I know that word!' (2nd semester japanese student here). Again, song gets stuck in my head for days.

Flash forward a few days...i see the whole AKB48 vs. MM argument. Now I decide to give them a shot, and I've been a fan ever since.

Idol business is fueled by wotas, you like it or not. If you don't like wotas, don't be an idol, be an artist, a singer, someone who comes out every now and then with a new single/album and holds a concert tour every year. But there is a catch too: it's too damn difficult to triumph in the music industry. Try marketing Momusu as singers (and not idols), you won't get very far (true, back then they were considered "artists" and not idols). And guess what "title" they obtained after Love Machine? 国民的アイドル, National Idol.

That is also another problem with AKB. Besides the wota bait they are.. there way to many members to even remember. Just fap bait they are. At least Tsunku was smart in 2000 about making the Morning Musume subgroups. With Tanpopo, Puchi Moni, Mini Moni, etc.. it gave a chance to give some of the less popular members in Morning Musume the spot light and allowed them to develope their personalities better. With all the sub groups, not only did they have more CDs coming out, but also more TV time. Morning Musume's stlye was changing, so Tsunku made Tanpopo to keep the style of ballads of the original Morning Musume. Thus if the sub groups were still existing, they might have a alternate version of Morning Musume with all the older members, while under a new name. Shame that the idea was not fully used. Hitomi and Goto Maki really started to shine when they were in Puchi Moni. Let us not forget all the times they showed up on Utaban and other Japanese shows because they were all separate groups. The mini groups themselves were able to have slightly different styles that was normally used in the Morning Musume main group. But with the time, like every fad or fashion, they started to fall back from the limelight (even with Haromoni, subgroups, etc.). I just watched some old EE Jump PVs with Goto Yuki. That guy looks WAY too much like Goto Maki. Almost like twins. I have this one vid where Goto Yuki and Goto Maki are on the same TV program to preform. It was creepy because of how close they looked to each other. Well, I hope Goto Maki does not just end her career now. It seems the only former Morning Musume girls that are doing well now are Mari Yaguchi and Yuuko Nakazawa. Both still doing the Talento thing. Hitomi graduated with a good image, but not really doing anything like singing as far as I know.

Look it this way. The addition/graduation thing existed since 1998, what makes Aika less "Musume。" than Yagucchan? Just because she was 2nd Gen and was there to ride the popularity wave?
