For the people wondering how much Japanese you need to know, I'd say a fair deal. What is being said to you isn't all that complex and it's usually spoken at a slow pace, but you absolutely cannot stop to think about grammar or the meaning of individual words.

I've tried ??????????? ( RJ064378) lately and found it to be really, really effective. The idea is that you are supposed to focus on not getting hypnotized while the voice actress bombards you with a flood of conflicting orders.

Another work I found to be pretty good was
ヒプノマルチボイス. The idea is that 2 different girls whisper things in your ear and you're going deeper and deeper by being flooded with too much information to consciously process. It's completely hands free, too.

Another thing I can easily recommend is one of the tracks that started the whole doujin hypnosis thing, 赤いリボンのリコ1～ドリームチャット～烙印 by Trance Voice Fan. It might be common sense, but one thing that's often forgotten is to really make sure NOTHING will disturb you. That obviously means getting some privacy so that no one will walk in on you/hear you or whatever. But one thing that can often really pull you out of the hypnosis are distracting thoughts. Make sure nothing urgent is on your mind, make sure you've brushed your teeth so there are no distracting tastes, make sure to get really comfortable in bed, etc.
Countless times I've not been able to go deep because I've had some stupid thought interrupt me.

Another thing is that most people are their most susceptible to suggestions right after they wake up. Haven't tired it myself, but it might help to go deeper into trance.

Yeah, you really don't have too much influence over the distracting thoughts. Only thing you can do is make sure to create an environment in which distracting thoughts are least likely to occur.

Doing it in the dark is the best, I think. Your power of imagination gets stronger when you lack stimuli from your sensory organs. No smell, no noise (other than the track), nothing itching/touching you, no taste and of course, no sight. That's also how isolation tanks work.
That is not to say it won't work if there's light. Numerous files have worked for me even while sitting upright in front of my PC in a brightly lit room.
Funnily enough, I was skipping around the 赤いリボンのリコ track in my brightly lit room in front of my PC and just intended to quickly go through the CD to check out what it had in store for me. I didn't even listen to most of the induction, but at some point I just became unable to keep skipping around and continued to listen. In the end it was even enough to make me cum, even though I probably skipped the complete first half of the track.

Never tried any of the 射精管理 tracks, but a lot of other hypno tracks use the technique of edging as well. Probably worth checking out, but tonight I'm going to focus on あなたをMにしちゃう催眠音声.

It's not really about shutting down the brain as much as it's about shutting down your consciousness and letting information pass right into your subconsciousness.

Most adverts are already trying to appeal to the viewer's subconsciousness as much as possible because it yields better results. By targeting the subconsciousness you avoid the viewer analyzing the product because only the consciousness is analytical.
That's why we have tons of adverts with girls swooning over some guy who uses product X, or why adverts for housewives most always feature warm colors and a soft voice, etc.

I don't think listening to these tracks weakens your defenses against that. Repeated listening will most likely increase your susceptibility to suggestions while under trance, but that's it.

I also listened to "anata wo M in shichau saimin onsei" (phone again so no Japanese) tonight. I think I've found my new favorite track. It has a really great induction part that helps you go really deep by utilizing some good techniques (like opening and closing eyes, pressing eyelids together, etc) plus repetition.
The dry as well as the orders part were both really great as well. The induction helped me go so deep that I was easily able to cum twice (once during the hands free part and then again during the orders part) in a very short span of time. Yeah, if you listen to these tracks with the mindset of never giving in they'll not work. No chance.
Hypnosis is basically deep meditation with someone to guide you through the process instead of doing it on your own. The hypnotist tells you what to do and how to do it, but it's up to you to actually carry it out.
So, as I said, if you find the idea of giving up control abhorrent you can listen to these tracks 24/7 and they'll do nothing for you.
Conversely, if you love the idea of giving up control and going into trance (like me) and listen to these tracks with the intention of completely following what you're being told they work great.

There is a field of hypnosis that focuses on hypnotizing a person while keeping him unaware that he's being hypnotized called "conversational hypnosis." But that's a different beast altogether. Because during a regular conversation you are never inclined to give up control.

Dry parts can be hit or miss as they are completely and utterly reliant on the listener being in a deep enough trance state to cum on command with no other stimuli involved. I've listened to this track twice and got it to work both times though.

I don't really like her, though. If you don't understand Japanese I guess it's the next best thing, but a lot of her recordings include suggestions about giving her money or similar things. Maybe that appeals to people very much into femdom, but personally I think it's a pretty big bitch move.

Japanese stuff is just superior in every single way. The voice actors actually have talent despite working in a really niche and probably not very profitable field. And their understanding of femdom is just completely different. Western "hypnodommes" essentially have god complexes, they'll tell you straight that they want to be worshiped, and they're totally serious about it. If it's just regular sound like rain hitting against your window, people walking around outside your room, etc. you can relax yourself before listening to the tracks and give yourself a suggestion. Something like "I can focus completely on what I chose to and totally ignore any outside sounds."
A simple form of self hypnosis, but it can prove quite useful.

But if you live near an airport, train station or highway the sounds might be too disturbing. In that case, or if self hypnosis isn't your thing, get some cheap noise cancelling headphones. You can either build some yourself for ~$30 by using Firing-range hearing protection with some speakers or buy some pre-built ones. Good ones have between a -20 to -30 dB rating, which should be sufficient for even the loudest sounds outside your house.

Still, I think there's a pretty big difference between a regular ero drama and an hypnosis track.
Just my opinion, but personally I'd keep hypnosis and non-hypnosis stuff separate.

Kotone is used for a lot of tracks, that's true. But I think there's a good reason for it. She's capable of acting out a wide range of characters (although I really don't like her loli impression), her voice is really pleasant and she uses just the right intonation and tone of voice for the inductions used in most tracks.
Still, the script is just as important as the voice acting. No matter how good the VA, if your script is bad it's not going to work. Considering how many circles use her to voice their scripts there's a pretty big difference in quality between the works she stars in, that's true.

Yesterday I listened to Trance-Me!!'s あなたをマゾ豚に洗脳音源, their second work featuring Beloa, a witch who gets her magic power by anally raping you in various ways. Was kinda disappointed. I shouldn't have expected much, since Trance-Me!! is a horrible group and most of the stuff they label as hypnosis has nothing to do with hypnosis, but the content sounded really hot so I wanted to believe. This work is a little better than most of their stuff, they do use actual hypnosis techniques, but they're not very good at it, because the induction is way too short, and they focus too much on erotic dialogue rather than suggestions. Maybe some day I've gotten better at going into trance, this will work for me.

For now, I'm unfortunately out of anal-focused works to try, so thinking of either turning to vanilla stuff, assorted femdom stuff, or the female transformation stuff. Haven't explored any of these that much, so recommendations are welcome. Already noted down 退魔少女アヤ, looks pretty hot.

For female transformation stuff, KUKURI is the circle you want to listen to (some are not as good as the rest), but they tend to be very long, with side stories and all. 退魔少女アヤ was surprisingly good and I'd recommend it before all else (I'm no expect to the genre though) 少女、悪魔の快楽に遭う by TSらぼ is also worth giving a try.
I'd advise avoiding エコーズ, but then again I'm no expert.

For more vanilla stuff I heavily recommend WAVE by 催眠音声研究所

Also, if you haven't, most stuff by エロトランス、キャンドルマン、みじんこ and　すくりぷてっどこねくしょん are worth the try.

Thanks for the recommendations. Let's see... KUKURI seems like a really good circle. I've tried one work by them, but they seem kinda advanced due to the reasons you stated, so I'm thinking of saving those for later, when I'm comfortable trancing for 1-2 hours straight. So, there's not really that much, especially when you take out the mediocre stuff.

One of the best is ふたりがけ催眠 ドライトレーニング編, where a pair of adorable twins tease and encourage you towards reaching an anal orgasm. The downside is that you need an aneros to get the most out of it.
