Does /jp/ know any musicians with a style similiar to ZUN? I can hear some classical, jazz and death metal influences in his music, and he seems to be heavily inspired by folk music, but I can't seem to find any artist who composes with such grace and sturdiness at the same time.

Not who you're replying to, but is there a musician out there who wasn't inspired (inspiration being copying pre-existing styles and mixing it with your own) by a single other artist? Not even his/her own parents? Like I'm genuinely curious and would love to hear their music.

He's taken a few melodies directly from romantic J-pop songs and things. In such a different context, I think it's fine.

>> No.11821539

The songs that he lifted from other media are, as said on the tin, lifted from other media so they have fuck all to do with his actual style.

To me ZUN is about developing the melodies -while- going fast, piano preferred. Unfortunately I only know of individual songs that fit the bill.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NkNmVAUx-s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LviULdjhuq8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq-HbOF1xvI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZYbnCfdVbU

BEMANI is actually a pretty decent place to start. The songs are -required- to be fast in the first place, and some people can be pretty good with the melodies.

OP it is what is wonderful of ZUN, actually in my opinion how stupid it can look like to others he inspired the philosophy of Jeet Kune Do applied to music sort of, he just showed everyone to express themselves and go innovative with music and that would looks good, mix every single type of music you have idea that can be mixed and create a 'piece'.

Actually I have in mind an artist that I can't understand his style but I know what motivated him and he is yoshikawa45(-45) also I believe is close to ZUN since he made music for Umineko and other doujins. Hes influenced by Bach a lot in his melodies, Goa and gothic dark theme, but I've been following him for long time and every time I listed to a song of his I know its from him, its like he gets a signature in the music for his works.
