This just makes me realize how incredibly creepy it would be if every box that featured some sort of cartoonish representation of the food talking actually contained a cartoonish talking creature that you were expected to eat.

I was just thinking, clearly this "crying moe" is part of the yukkuri's evolution.

Their unique psionic field reverses the viewpoint of any creature looking at it. This would make things wanting to kill it see it as harmless or inedible, which is a great defense against natural predators(except other yukkuris, who may be immune) as yukkuris have no other defense to protect their food contents. This trait assumes that all creatures will see it as a food source, and logically so, it is very soft and physically inept and is full of readily edible food. The existence of sentient creatures with thoughts beyond primal instinct was a horrible twist.

How the trait developed or how it works is not the primary concern. What we should be worrying about is how it can affect us through a dimensional border.
