The best way to get better at Japanese is to actually put it into practice.

Are those sales for the entire year? That seems pretty damn low. If each VN costs like $100 then 10k sales is only like $1 million.

How can I do this? I can bake but I don't have access to lolis. Would a baking/dessert class be something that people would take their daughters to?

>> No.11786764

>>11786748
If I'm not mistaken, producing Anime costs a lot more than VN's and the sales for most Anime don't go over 40k, right? So I don't think selling like 30k is bad at all in the Eroge industry; about 10k, I have my doubts. I'm just doing a comparative conjecture here.

Now seeing the sales for anime, maybe I should've written 25-20k . I thought anime was selling a lot more than eroge.

So I just finished Hatsuyuki Sakura after 4 days. It was really good and very enjoyable. The H scenes are totally out of place but I guess you can skip those without missing anything. A few parts are a bit slow but I don't mind them at all. Overall I personally think 83 on ES is too low.

The only thing I'm sad about is that there's no proper Aya end. Her route is on the same timeline as canon route, unlike the other routes on a parallel what-if timeline, so that means Hatsuyuki does love Aya on all routes if she remembers him. In the final when you choose to kiss her, it should have given us a semi happy end instead of a simple bad end.

Not sure which one you're mentioning, but so far I haven't seen too many problems with Inganock. Sure, it may be a bit too liberal sometimes, but there doesn't seem to be inconsistent/ugly writing. However, an atribute that would possibly qualify it as a lower than passable translation would be that some of the writing styles in the game just don't feel like they're really compatible with english. Like at those segments in which the King is climbing the stairs, for example. Since most of the dialogue is often repeated, it seems really weird in the english narration. And there's probably the deal with technical terms like the Infinitely Crowded Street and such.

He actually was planning to translate Baldr and Saihate:
http://vntls.org/news/reminiscence-2013-rewrite/
>Ixrec: Rewrite was a particularly complicated decision since I’d just finished the group of VNs we’d already decided on at the time (MLA [MuvLuv Alternative], Sharnoth, Forest). For obvious reasons we didn’t do any public polling, but there was some polling and discussion within the group and the conclusion was that Baldr Sky, Saihate, Comyu and Rewrite were the top four overall. It took me a long time to decide what to do with this, but what I eventually settled on is that Baldr I wanted to wait on because it was so thematically similar to MLA (ie, one super long mecha series was enough for a while), and Saihate I wanted to wait on because I wanted to do it together with a retranslation of Cross Channel, so it was Comyu and Rewrite for me. The only reason I chose to do Rewrite first out of those two was that after finishing Forest, I felt like starting with the easier VN.

Also about his future plans and translations:
>VNTLS: You keep your translation progress site extremely up-to-date, but do you have any specific details on where you plan to go from here?
>Ixrec: Well you know my schedule already, but the big question is really how much translation can I continue to do now that I have a job. Most of my concrete plans at the moment involve furniture and utility companies so I don’t have much to say about VNs.

>VNTLS: Is there anything you’d like to say to the VN community as this year wraps up?
>Ixrec: I guess there’s two things that are always on my mind:
>a) we still need more translators dammit, and
>b) It’d be nice if I could actually interact with “the community” again (whatever/wherever that is), but I have no idea how to do that without dragging a crowd of trolls with me (the angry, hateful kind that make every thread/chat room they touch an unpleasant place to visit ever again).

As somebody who finished that series only a couple of days ago, i don't recommend people play it honestly. the first game spends too much time treading over the same territory between the non-main girl routes. and if you play the main girl routes (Yoshine and Emi) first it spoils about a majority of the non main girl route.

Ikikoi is a bit... what it tries to be, somewhat random and fast paced comedy wise but not very funny which is its main problem and the characters can get really annoying and supreme candy is a special kind of trainwreck plagued with short and shitty routes to get to the plot-related ones that aren't good enough to justify reading the whole thing, the last one especially goes full retard.

Keroq/Makura is probably my favorite producer. H2O is quite enjoyable, and would probably be a good one to start with.
Despite what >>11801155 has against it, Supreme Candy is my personal favorite of the Makura releases, but it is kind of weird and scaji fucking around isn't really something that everyone's going to enjoy.
Ikikoi is a little weird, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It isn't on the same level as their other games, but I enjoyed a lot of the humor and most of the characters, mainly Tsumugu, were fun enough.
Himanatsu is also quite good, especially Yomi's route and Hina's route, but for various reasons, it really doesn't feel anything like their other games. This is most likely because the two main routes weren't written by their in house staff, but it's still worthwhile. I still plan to read Tsukiko's route from the psp release at some point.
Also, I'd still say that the trial for Sakura no Uta that was released with Supreme Candy is worth playing even if it's likely that none of it will actually make it into the final product.

The first game is more like your generic magical school life moege with a not so fleshed out overarching mystery, but it's essential for some foreshadowing and serves as an introduction. It's still quite entertaining on it's own if you don't expect too much out of it. I originally picked it up as a filler.

The second one starts similar to first one, but soon the actual plot starts moving and especially the few last chapters are intense twist storms. Easily my favorite 2013 title.
Both also have great OST and overall good production values.

Though as criticism the non-canon optional sub-heroine routes in both games are extremely short amounting to just a confession, H-scene and a very quick ending.

No? Short, ended halfway through the story, the art while it's good for the characters, again lack of positions, effects, expressions, little amount of cgs and they only have two or three variations on average, background it's a joke, the system and sound aren't bad, but they're just average and nothing more than that, the VAs? Overall average, but the main girl is specially bad. And yes the game isn't as bad as the average doujin, I'll rewrite my argument, it's just poorly polished and there are several companies who released better novels in these aspects you mentioned and between then some are (former or not) doujins companies at the time.

>> No.11803502

Backgrounds, CG and sprite variation are all average (though the game has a lot of base CG considering its length), but there sure as hell is no lack of effects (wtf) and the soundtrack is good. This is some seriously pedantic shit you're listing, as long as it's not Pricolle (where sprites change 5 times per line) or something ancient (where they don't change at all) nobody is going to give a shit if there are 6 or 12 sprite variations when they classify something as having high production values or being a doujin. It's pretty and sounds good, just like other games which are pretty and most often sound less good.

Why wouldn't I in this instance of "unpolished" art. There sure is plenty of unpolished shit in DI if that's your standard. And there is nothing wrong with doujin games. It's just your weird perception of production values that makes not the least bit of sense.

Err... They maybe have spend a considerable amount of money on the novel, but the product of it was a novel no more worth than a good doujin one.

Dies Irae idolization will always be my favorite thing about this thread. Remember that Mercurius monologue at the end of Kei's route where he goes "blabla Acta est Fabula blaba". Masada must have pissed himself from laughter while writing this thing.

He does not use AeF on Kei's route, well I suppose he uses the throne power to loop the time but this isn't the point... He and Reinhart just fucks around with them because their power level is too low until Kai save their asses while they retreat.

You forget that the Japanese are fucking abysmal at programming, particularly when it comes to PCs. The few decent programmers Japan has are tied up on console games.

Anyway, these days Windows is essentially identical worldwide, so the best you can do is check display language, time zone, etc. As far as full phone-home DRM schemes, I think most of them use Soft Denchi if anything, which has been cracked to hell and back. Not like most eroge developers have the budget to roll their own.

From my experience there's three and only three types of ADHD characters.

1. The one whose mouth you want to shut with a deep kiss. The rarest type.
2. The one whose mouth you want to shut by shoving your cock down their throat.
3. The one whose mouth you want to shut by shoving a shotgun down their throat.
