Honestly, I think it should be brought back, it's a lot better sounding than this meaningless "weeaboo" stuff. And it was used the same way, as a pretty much derogatory term for european folk like Monet that got obsessed with the little funny island nation.

It varies from country to country.

Different countries have different laws.

In America, we have by blood and by soil laws. That means, if you were born to an American, you are American. It also means if you were born in America, regardless of parents, you are an American.

Other countries may or may not have a "by soil" rule for citizenship.
