I'm sure you'll agree that the APNG implementation is much better than MNG, and if a major entertainment site like 4chan supported it, it would get more widely adapted. After all, we have multiple boards dedicated to animated images.

It's no problem Anon, I'm content with the STEM for right now. If I remember correctly the rift was shooting for a 2014 consumer release but I don't think that's concrete yet. Personally I am fine with them delaying it since I'd rather a finished product than a rushed one.

I bought an oculus rift on order, waited two and half months and had to cancel the order to get a refund so I could pay my debt collector. I'm looking forward to the HD release though!

* stop the body from moving. Physical restraints are a bad idea, as you could easily hurt yourself struggling against them. If he's in a thrilling battle sequence where his heart is pounding while adrenaline is being pumped through his veins, is it okay if his body is actually totally relaxed and not using the additional energy or bloodflow at all?

If you've read any of the blogs by those working on/with the Rift, you know that they had/have numerous hurdles to overcome, and that's just for VR sight. Full-immersion, full-body VR is a ways off. Technological progress is always accelerating, though, so I'd be immensely, immensely surprised if we don't see it within our lifetimes. Hell, we ought to have something greatly resembling it within 20 years.

I've played with the Oculus Rift a couple months ago, although only 2-3 minutes.

It works very well, but it doesn't 'feel' real. It feels more like you're inside a dream you can interact with, or something like that. I also felt slightly mentally exhausted after playing for a couple minutes; I don't think I'd be able to play it for hours on end. My inability to focus during play might get in the way of more challenging games, though it's also likely you'll just get used to it over time. Also of note is the low resolution; I'm not sure if it was the game I played, the Oculus Rift or the fact that it was beta hardware, but resolution-wise it was like I was playing a PSX game.
