I think the greatest issue here is that it's not fully translated into english. North Tyris is still kind of okay except for the slave trader and missing cutscenes and flavour text, but South Tyris is just unplayable.

The text from the original Elona is mostly translated, so the first half of the game (in North Tyris) is quite playable.

The Elona+ mod which added the South Tyris area and other things is untranslated. Quest dialogues like what you see in the picture read like this in the english version:

I use a claw and tonfa because it gives bonuses to crossbow damage as well. PV is always nice though, I just don't really have a reason to melee even at melee range.

Acid will corrode weapons like that, dipping them in an acidproof potion will prevent it. Some materials are naturally acidproof. I think you can probably just have a weapons/armor vendor bless it repeatedly to get it back to +0, but I don't know how much that'd cost.

Get equipment that "floats you" for you and your pets (wings and such), and you'll never step in acid and potion puddles again. Your pet won't fall into the well/toilet bowl after drinking from it either.

I already got seven leagues and a happy bed, not sure what I should wish for if I get another one.. Wishing for potentials seem kind of a waste. Maybe evolution potions? I keep wasting my good mutations by drinking cure mutations to get rid of a bad one I pick up. I was hoping blessing the cure mutation would only cure the bad ones but I guess not.

That's not what I meant.

Your current God gives you a special artifact if you talk to him or her in person while at 4k favor(the amount you need to get the third gift).

The main thing is that you need a wish to summon your God for that very last gift.

Because the penalties for leaving a God are practically nothing. It is actually advantageous to worship every single God eventually, getting to 4k favor, getting all their gifts, then ditching them.

Massively decreasing some stats make them much easier to train.

The Fetter of Earth which cripples your speed allows you to train your AP far easier.

The Green God Thorn allows you to train your healing and meditation skills far more easily since you won't regen HP or MP nearly as fast.

The Magic Canceler severely reduces your max MP as a side-effect of reducing your magic stat. Which makes training magic capacity far easier.

The Tempest Collar drastically reduces your evasion, combined with reducing DV, you can actually manage to focus train your armor skills instead of your dodging skills.

The Aureate Constrictor which blasts your negotiation allows you to abusively train it by repeatedly buying and selling cheap vendor trash over and over due to how the negotiation skill works.

The Sasumata and Mechanical Binder allow you to do absolutely no damage while hitting things. This actually means something in a game like Elona+.

The Wheel of Fortune is useful if you want to try assassinate random NPCs while out and about as the random death event stops happening at a certain threshold of positive luck.

Aside from all of this, all of the armor pieces have massive PV. 50 for every standard piece and 150 for the binder. If your mount is non combat oriented, then throwing the binder on it can help it survive much longer.

Really though, you're playing a game like Elona and don't see the value of things meant to massively help grinding?

There's this guy somewhere who said he save-scummed ~1000 times trying to get his black cat to lick an aurora ring [8,8] from an NPC. He succeeded in the end with a ring that has resist paralysis, sleep, and just about everything. Has anyone else tried this before?

In the picture is a machine gun that I'd like to get some extra attributes for (like dealing chaos damage) before slapping it on a bell.

Black cat scumming?

I've done it, but only with precious artifacts(do quests which request that you get something from an NPC, this allows you to trade stuff to them including unique artifacts. Since they always drop it's far easier to get a black cat to lick them). For rings, there's already the Palmia Pride and Ring of Steel Dragon so I'm wondering why he bothered with an aurora ring. I only put them on when traveling in bad weather.

Holy shit, that is crazy. They can't get that kind of bloated stats anymore, but they're still pretty good. And what I mean is you can roll for a living gun type weapon (except laser guns, if you want a laser gun reroll a Railgun) if you reroll the unique sniper rifle on the music ticket exchange guy in South Tyris. It's not a guaranteed living weapon, but if you're scumming anyway, why not?

it can get you up to 150 without difficulty if you keep the potential up. that plus skeleton key should let you open lvl 250 locks, no problem. plus you could always craft a living dagger with all bonuses on +lockpicking.

Just tried the black cat thing on the ring of steel dragon. Holy shit, it works.

The funny thing is that if you keep resurrecting the npc killed, you can redo it over and over again with a net karma loss but net relationship gain. Managed to get to *love* with a guard on a wizard mode save. Too bad adventurers can't be resurrected.

the tonfas are like shields, except they don't give shield PV and don't have shield penalties.

they're also a bit bugged: if you have 3+ hands and wield at least one tonfa, you don't get the casting penalty for dual-wielding. This is very useful for carrying multiple +casting living weapons so that I can hardcast Wish.

I found a new use for shops. It seems that selling containers give you treasure chests and safes, and more importantly, the game doesn't care about the quality of containers you sell. so I buy up a whole bunch of gamble chests (sold by general goods vendors and inns) and sell them at the shop. I'm reasonably sure it's faster at farming small medals than treasure maps.

Badly phrased it. Yes, getting the abandoned monsters' ranch (or a few of them) is a must for players wanting to get far in the game. It's just that if the player is already hitting the ally cap, he can temporarily park one or two at the dojo instead of rushing to South Tyris right away.

I did some testing and it seems the number of dragons summoned by ragnarok is fixed and is independent of the size of the area the player is in.

you can, but the advantage of doing it in the shop is that you can just leave the stuff on the ground. the dragons drop a lot of gear, plus 300s chests which are a pain in the ass to move.

you can fix that with herbed food. 20x stat growth means once you get enough potions of potential lategame to keep all potential at Superb, 1 PoP + 1 herbed food = +1 to all stats. I have killed all the (inner) gods except Kumiromi (I'll probably do that one tomorrow). Not toe-to-toe, of course. I mob them with pets and then cast Charged-up Magic Storms. They take a lot of punishment. Jure is by far the hardest, because she casts Jure's Heal at low HP. Unfair as fuck.

In 1.33 Resurrection can't be cast until 24 hours from death, which means I can't rez-spam dead pets. I guess I'll hold off the update until I get kumi's beast sickle.
