I made an account to complain about LeoModesto's fairies, which had been pretty controversial elsewhere. Then the admin said it was HIS wiki and he could do what HE wanted, Modesto was his friend and we were all trolls, blah blah blah ... a few months later, sign-ups were blocked.

I'm not egotistical enough to think it was my fault, but I'm guessing it was something similar? Maybe too many people were complaining about the wiki's direction instead of being sycophants?

Well I just made that account as a one-off. I honestly don't even know who LeoModesto is, beyond the fact that he has a Tumblr, he's a friend of the admin, and he drew the fairies. Fact is, the fairies look awful.

Maybe there's some huge conspiracy against Modesto but I don't see how that affects my argument.

I think the fairies don't suit the professionalism of a Wiki. Of course, all Wikis aren't trying to be Wikipedia-style encyclopedias, but I think a Touhou Wiki that uses official art as its "default" images doesn't need cute images on its front page. The images are of low artistic quality and were only accepted because the Wiki admin is friends with the artist, not because they are actually good images. Same deal with the Reimu donation image, which was changed at least once.

There was no official vote or democratic policy that suits the tone of a wiki, the admin just liked them and the author so they were immediately adopted into the template. He/she has also dismissed complaints against them as trolling against Leo, which is pretty immature. I don't even know who the fuck Leo is besides some guy who has a Tumblr blog I've never read.

What I know about Leo I've pieced together from /jp/. He's male, an artist, and has a Tumblr I've never visited. From the wiki discussion, he seems to be friends with the admin. I know nothing else about his identity and I don't care to look him up.

Well the point is (usually) that they can be edited by anyone, and stuff like this is put to a vote on most wikis. Obviously it's Mamizou's/Momiji's site and he can do what he wants (and he made this very clear), but this isn't the first iteration of the wiki. There are still plenty of translations on there that pre-date the wikis entirely. I think he owes it to the community to serve the community.

You know, the entire contents of the wiki are in CC. As such, they do belong to the community and the community is free to do with them what it sees fit. The site, however, belongs to Momiji and as long as she respects the content's license, she can indeed treat it as her personal playground.
