I've noticed a lot of the most iconic monsters in recent history draw from humans. The three most iconic monsters in popular culture, in order, are probably these:

2) the vampire

Vampires have a bunch of weaknesses because they are unreasonably strong and have way too many powers. Also, they keep losing their weaknesses in different representations and as time goes on. They are fairly high level opponents, and particularly strong ones like Remi is intended to be are consistently about the top of the supernatural food chain.
