I slept on a 20 dollar foam pad for about five months. I was able to sleep pretty comfortably just using some clever positioning a pillow.

If you're pissing the bed in your sleep it means your bladder is losing control and dying. Liver failure and/or suffering UTIs and bladder infections is not fun and youll be pissing razorblades every hour on the hour in a few years if you keep it up.

I slept on a mattress on the floor for almost a year because I was too lazy to go to the store and buy a bed.
It sucks.
Also, there's a reason why the japanese air their futon every day: if you don't it will accumulate water (sweat) under it. Especially in summer. Fucking gross.

I do this and have never noticed a problem. I do use a rug under the mattress which I wash when I change my bedding, so about once every six months. Also I do use an all natural fiber pocket sprung mattress.
