I'm taking it super easy! I don't have to do anything for almost 4 weeks, so now I can just lay around all day.

Need to make the effort to get some (okay, a lot of) snacks, and then I'm going to spend my days playing games, reading some of the books I've been meaning to get around to, and watching classic Disney movies because fuck the police.

Are you me?

I always have little random pains, or my chest hurts, or I have a pressure in my head, or I feel like something got pinched internally, or I feel numb somewhere.

Going to the doctors is useless. They won't and couldn't find anything, because they just don't know what it is. At worst they'll just tell you it's anxiety.

People over estimate doctors, they're not magicians, if you just say "I get some random weird pains in random parts of my body sometimes" they can't know what the hell that is. Personally in my case I think it's brain damage from past drug use.

No, I'm pretty sure it's minor brain damage from past drug use. I'm almost positive of that.

I'm not a hypochondriac. Believe me, doctors aren't too polite to tell someone they're a hypochondriac, directly or using a euphemism, often just because they don't have the answer and don't want to say "I don't actually know".

Doctors have a very hard time admitting that, and most of the time will do whatever they possibly can to avoid that.

Telling someone with an medical condition that it's a psychological condition is about the most you could ever do to ruin a patient's confidence, along with destroying their mental health in the case that they believe you ("You mean I'm just crazy?" is what they think.), and further worsening their physical condition if they take psychiatric drugs.

In my case it was drug abuse at a young age. I didn't want to tell doctors that, and I didn't. If you've ever seen someone withdrawing from benzos alcohol and amphetamines at the same time you'd think they were fucking crazy too.

I knew what was wrong with me the entire time, but the doctors didn't, and after they do their testing, they concluded that it must be psychological issues because they had no fucking clue and were fed up. Like I said, you'd think anyone in that same situation was crazy.

The point is that this is solely just one tiny example of a very common cycle: Doctors don't know what's wrong even though there's an actual medical condition happening --> they say it's a psychological condition instead of admitting they don't know --> in the case that the person believes them, both their mental health is now degraded from the new doctrine they believe, and their physical health from mind altering psychiatric drugs.

They never get better, and only get worse. Ever hear the term "First do no harm"? Guess where that is taught?

`Don't worry, it's just anxiety.'

I was never mad they couldn't help me. Not by a longshot. I'm mad mainly because of the harm they cause to other people, and having to witness that, not just what happened to me. Is it? I cannot stand it when people talk during a film. In fact, I wouldn't even like to have a chat about the film afterwards. What if you liked the film but your friends didn't? What if they're experts in narrative theory and you aren't, or the other way around?

The cinema is a place you go to see films, not to talk and play on your phone and clap when it's all over. I'm sure producers will come up with a better way to distribute films in the next 20-30 years (and cinemas will become some weird novelty), but right now I have no choice.

I've been to the cinema with friends a few times and generally if it's a good movie you all shut up and watch and talk about it as you go home. It's kinda fun, watching a movie can be a group experience especially if it's a horror movie.

If the movie kinda sucks then you all make fun of it the whole time, also fun.

I have a feeling hollywood movies will be played in theaters first for at least another decade but eventually online streaming and downloads will take over just like everywhere else.

I think it's just the case that most people do happen to go there in groups, so after a while it becomes unusual to go there on your own. I also go to cafes and pubs alone. I wouldn't go somewhere like a fancy restaurant alone, because there the point is that you have a nice meal and talk with your lover or work colleagues or whoever. But if I want to grab a coffee or see a film, I'm not going to stop myself because I happen to not be with someone. There's no policy against being alone at any of these places.

That's true. It really is one of those places where you're paying for the "experience", but there's no reason you can't have that alone.

I think riffing a film MST3K style with friends would be pretty fun. Still, I don't consider sitting in silence together very social. In fact, that's something I'd rather do alone. If I had friends, I'd rather spend the same time hanging out and doing friend things.

Most people react differently in groups. For example if you go to see stand up everyone laughs even if the guy isn't particularly funny. When you hear other people laugh you're kind of subconsciously encouraged to do the same. Same goes for horror movies.

Truth be told I don't really get the point for the more psychological films. Those are best viewed alone or at someone's house with a few very good friends, or just one.

>> No.11714934

>Most people react differently in groups.

It's dumb really, because it's usually in negative ways that don't represent how they really feel, like mob mentality.

When those girls laughed at me at the cinema, I could tell none of them would have individually. It was just a a group experience: "Hey, this guy came here by himself! Let's share in laughter at his expense!"

I'm fine with doing things alone, there just needs to be an opt-in to be LEFT alone, e.g. the option to turn invisible.

They never go dormant and are always in some stage of fruition. Right now the oranges have just began to turn orange, but aren't that sweet yet. After all these oranges get ripe and fall off comes the highlight of the year for these trees, which are the orange blossoms that fill the area with sweet, fragrant flowery scents. Just left my job and needed some cash, so I took a craigslist posting to go help this rich couple move. Lived in this house on the hills in a nice part of California.

When I show up, their daughter about 4 years old pops up and tell me she knew my secret. I didn't know what she meant, and after a bit of confusion, just got to work. She kept staring at me from outside or around the corner hiding pretty poorly. Eventually she came up, all rosy nosed from her allergies and built up the courage to confront me. She told me that she knew I was a power ranger and that she'd keep my secret, not realizing her dad was behind me out of sight.

After about half a second to process, I give her a which "shhh" and a smile. For the rest of the day, I gave her my best superman pose everytime I saw her and told her something cheesy, like "eat your veggies" and "study hard" and "listen to your parents."

By the time the day was over she ran up to give me the snottiest, strongest hug her little arms could muster around my knees and ran back inside. Her parents basically asked me to go along with them to babysit their kid during their cross state move. Offered to pay my expenses and pay me pretty damned reasonably, but I felt a little weird and declined.

I just got done talking with my head professor. My parents "recommend" that I go to school, so I have to go.

Now he's saying I have to go talk to people, hand out resumes, and be a go getter. And he keeps saying this stuff and talking about being proactive and going forward.

I can't take it easy like this, I just want to work enough to survive and nothing else. I was hoping I could get through life with the bare minimum of human contact without starving myself or becoming a hermit but now it seems I can't even do that.

Please help. I desire death, but I'm scared of the process and I fear what's really on the other side. I would just rather be someone who exists, like a plant in a corner, a mouse scavenging for a meal, or a pebble on the side of the road.
