Asuka had several known stages to her life:

Early childhood: Possibly normal life with mother

After mother's death and being told she will become an Evangelion pilot: graduates college really young, goes into the air force and is discharged with an unspecified high rank

After this period, while waiting for or undergoing EVA training (?): plays a lot of video games in her room all day

None of these periods would permit her to learn any cooking knowledge, and legitimate first-time cooks, especially ones with brazen overconfidence, might cut themselves while cooking.

Rei cut her hand too by the way. At first I totally missed the portion of this scene where she looks at Rei's hand and notices it's also cut. Pretty cool scene. Shame Asuka's character was so much shallower in the movies so far.
