i think you need to soften the transfer from the nose to the cheeks

oh and i realised the other thing that throws me about the mask, the mouth seems to come out in a sort of bump shape like [A] in pic related, imo it should look more like a smooth curve [B] oh and you want the bottom of the nose to be slightly convex as opposed to concave[C] (unless the anime character MUST look like that)

also i don't know what character it is but for gods sake rotate those ears backwards, they need to be way more flush against the head than sticking out like and elephant

I'd say to mix more the nose with the face tho to do that you need a full mask design, instead of a face only thing as it is now.
I'd say to try doing the whole head model first, then cropping it into a mask later.
It can help seeing what you're missing on it.

Is there anything specific that you think is too sharp? Blender's default shading does make the features look sharper than they will be once the mask is printed. What I really should do is add a texture to the model, which should reduce that.

What about the eyes would you say looks off? They might look a bit off just because they are empty

I didn't think that Sigma masks were full-head (I've seen a few pictures of Sigma masks from the inside and they don't appear to be full-head, although it's somewhat hard to tell).

Anyways, I'm not sure how making the model extend all the way back would help with the face shape. It's more difficult here because the model has to include the inside as well (unlike with casting). If I were to make the model into a full head like a sculpt, it would mean I would have to add the inside afterwards, which would probably be more difficult than just including it in the base model.

i think one of the biggest things that bothers me is how much it still looks like a wyu mask.

one thing for sure i think you should get rid of is that head ridge. most other masks use foam to create hair volume instead of making it a part of the mask. it just looks off.

i actually don't really have much of a problem with wyu masks any more, there's a lot more performers that own them that look good nowadays

but you're not wyu, you should design a mask to fit your own artistic style. all other mask makers have a distinct styling, i think it'd do you a lot of good to move further away from using wyu's mold as your baseline.

SIGMA masks are half masks, i've seen one in person. it uses padding under the wig to make up for the lack of everything else

Nonsense, photography is a learned skill, gear isn't everything. I've seen shitty photos taken on expensive DSLRs by people who don't know how aperture and focal length affect shots, and beautiful photos taken on cheap point-and-shoots by people who know how to work framing and lighting to make up for the limited equipment.

...so learn the art of photography, and train your eye to take good photos, more so than buying good cameras.
Cosplay of all kind depends on good photography.

True. I used to take photos in a point-and-shoot long before buying a DSLR. Equipment makes a difference tho.

I softened the sides of the nose and tweaked the shape of the mouth. I also added a texture to the model and adjusted the lighting (Blender's default shading makes the model look too sharp, as I said before).

As long as the shape is right, I don't think it should matter whether the hair bulk is a part of the shell or added later. With 3D printing, it makes a lot more sense to just make the shell with the exact shape desired rather than adding stuff or cutting holes afterwards.

Anyways, I see what looks like a "hair ridge" on inside photos of Sigma masks. Not sure if that's actually what it is, but I'm not sure what else it would be.

the only critique id have at this point is that they eye holes look s but generic, but i cant remember which reference pic you where using so thats up for debate

other than that maybe bring the forehead out a bit more? yeah thats pretty much all i can think of great job

(oh and maybe change the entrance hole for the mask, the straight diagonal may be noticeable when worn, id consider making it a full helmet style mask like Nuko and Hikarinaka do)
