I don't think Kancolle can ever "kill" or "beat" Touhou.

Touhou really carved out its own section of fandom that wasn't there before. It created one of the most creative fandoms in the world in my opinion. Only Touhou can be in Touhou's place, the most Kancolle can do is carve out its own fandom with the same passion that Touhou fans have, and I really hope that happens. I enjoy the shit out of both games and both fandoms, I don't want Touhou to die, but I want Kancolle to come on par with it.

I liked Touhou mostly for the games but they have dwindled in quality recently and I always preferred Cave STGs anyway, while the story and characters that were developed mostly by doujin authors and artists rather than ZUN are responsible for any further interest I might have had in it until now.
