It's hardly dead, just slow. It only has a slow posting rate becuase no one wants to post on it becuase people aren't posting on it. If everyone who complained about the slow posting rate posted on the site they'd have nothing to complain about. If you want more traffic you should merge the boards and kill the archive (archives = accountability and more drama) Combine /so/ + /ot/, /an/ + /ma/, etc. You don't need more than 5 boards really. Just try it out for a month or two and see what happens. If it doesn't work out you can just switch it back.

You know, my comment was in reference to how other sites do things. for the most part we don't have massive threads for anime or video games in general, we have boards for that. setting bump or post limits would be redundant becuase people would simply make xxxx thread part 2 or 3 or 4. I can see the logic behind deleting threads threads so that people would create new ones, but it'd just be the same stuff getting talked about and become repetitious. quantity over quality if you will. This is something we've kinda got going on with out /mai/ board, people there are always remaking old threads without realizing it. Originaly I had unlimited pages on all boards but was advised otherwise becuase of this. As stated previously in this tread, many of us don't like the idea of having huge hard to navigate general threads. This seems like common sense to me, but it's rarely implemented over the long term. If I'm purposely posting pictures of goat dicks in every thread or making a thousand threads to bump everything off then obviously I should be banned and my shit deleted. If I'm participating in an active thread that people are enjoying then leave me and the thread be.

Moderating is a crappy and thankless task but it can been done with an even hand. Part of the problem is that people who actively seek staff positions tend to already be full of themselves and relish the "power" they have. You get a few who are well meaning but feel pressured to emulate the others to fit in. At least, that's been my experience with board and forum mods/admins.

Not if you actively browse all the boards, which is another issue I wanted to address. I think approaching the site as a board camper is really the wrong way to go when really most of the user base can be found all across the site. the boards are simply there to keep things organized and nothing more. each board doesn't have it's own user base and community like we have here on 4chan. This is after all what our front page is for, it shows posts all across the site. I wouldn't expect or want anyone there to just camp out on one single board. having everything on one board or on a dozen is the same thing anyway if you're ignoring threads or boards with content that doesn't apply to you. it may look faster (if you're a board camper) but you're getting the same amount of content either way.
simply put, what they're doing works for them, and what we're doing more or less works for us. people keep calling us dead but we've had fairly consistent traffic for years now, and really some of our users seem to like things slower and smaller.

Problem with /jp/ is that moot tries to force 4chan to be topic oriented while the whole comunity wants it to be comunity oriented. Board culture, redirecting people to other board, the notion of homeboard and crossboarder, etc etc.
Also /jp/ is on 4chan and thus gets colateral shitpost.

And every single spin off is either a democracy laxer than sweden's social marxism or filled with jews.
And none of them have a clear set goal.

People should have realised that facism works much better than democracy when it comes to geting shit done.
Whoever thinking that not baning currybutt / tokiko / saya on sight is a decent idea should never get involved with any form of management.
