I sort them into character folders then set up symlinks based on common tags, e.g. fetish and hair color.

It's difficult to explain but basically I can go to "setting/gensokyo" or search for both "bondage" and "gore".

I understand. I've been burned by relying on sites to host content for me, however. Especially stuff hosted by goons.

Eromanga and doujinshi get tagged 'Title [Artist/Circle]'. I archive releases monthly in folders of the month they were released, and then retag them when I feel the need to do so. So far by hand I've tagged and organized nearly 1,700 releases with a little over 750 releases that I need to assess the rereadability of, the quality of, whether I should even keep them or not, and if so they're to be tagged, combined if needed, and then moved into the main folder.

I just do it based on character. If it's a group picture then I'll just make a misc. folder for the series.

I just go ControlC -> ControlV on whatever title it has on ExHentai.

I had never saved any pics. Why should I? In the internets are so much sites with pics that makes me horny.

Feel when your ching chong comics all have moonrune names so you need to open X and use the mouse just to cd to them.

Has nobody written a command-line moonrune-to-roumaji program yet? There are plenty of online ones.

That's exactly what I do.
I also keep a separate folder for all the porn I saved on 4chan.
This is simply categorized in separate folders by the main fetish shown in the pic. More extreme fetishes go in the d folder, which is also categorized by separate folders on the inside.
I also have generic folders for pics that I can't categorize well. Like a "Tits General" folder or a "Generic Nudes" folder.

Touhou H is a whole different story. They are categorized by character usually.

I have big folders for the series I save a lot of, then smaller folders for everything else. all my single-image ero is in one folder, and my doujinshi in another.

Touhou is divided by game in each subfolder. If they show up in multiple games, I just keep them under the game they showed up first.

Photography is divided into Figures, Dolls, Kigurumi, Cosplay and Scenery

Although, this laptop is temporary storage until I have access to my desktop again, so a lot of series folders are missing right now.

I tried running a local server with Danbooru's software once, but tagging everything was stressing me out so I gave up on it. Now I just throw stuff in a big folder. I still think tagging is the best option, if you have a good idea of what tags you want.
