I like being picky about my genres but I don't think DnB-y stuff even falls under J core, but I'm going by the definition of J core being anything that falls under the hardcore category and is japanese.

Genres can be as anal as you want them to, I like to be picky because it helps me find more music.

i'm not really an expert, but the closest genre would probably be electro-house or EDM. honestly most people would just call it brostep because of the prominent bass synths, though.

To remain on-topic, I found SWING HOLIC 11 to be freaking great, new Bakuon Jazz felt uninspired; previous ones were always 10/10 material but this 4th album was more of 7/10. foxfactory disappointingly had rehashed tracks (thankfully I don't tire on listening to the China/Patchy over-the-top arrangements) and ironically the compilation album Rebirth Dancehall was a better listen than Pop|Culture. Glad to see another Solaris Lues too.

"J-Core" sounds pretty generic, and not all of the albums are "electronic" music.

Woah man, let's not go crazy. Yes, I think LAZ is on the level of producers signed to a label like Hospital (which has lost all the appeal which made it one of the biggest Liquid Funk labels) but there's definitely better producers around now.

However, it's almost solely due to fact the D&B hasn't been around in Japan as long and at the level it has in UK which is why his production is just a little behind the big names. Based on Asphyxia Report, if he just listens to more modern D&B (and maybe more Jungle to hear how it used to be) then he'd be top tier.

But the irish flute shit was done incredibly well, not something I've heard in any D&B sub-genre, closest would be in Liquid Funk but nothing like that.

Question. I've had that massive touhou lossless torrent downloaded for a while now (and I've also been updating it each time a new version comes out). Problem is, I dislike the .tta format that they're in. I'd prefer FLAC. So my question is this. If I bought a new hard drive (since I need another one anyway) and converted every album from .tta to flac, how long would it take? Also would it likely be a headache or will I be able to leave it doing that for a day or so without any problems? I'd hate for the process to not only be long, but also be filled with errors that I'd have to look up on how to address.

Depends on your CPU and what compression level you use for encoding, but on my Core i5 @ 3.4 GHz it takes about 20s to transcode a 400 MB TTA into FLAC using avconv with default settings. At that rate it would take about 17 hours to do the whole collection.

As for errors, they're pretty rare when transcoding, but in a 1.2 TB collection I'm sure there will be a few. As long as you use a tool or script that doesn't just stop when it encounters an error in a single file, you can just address any errors at the end.
