I have a theory about "Trevor" which I formulated after reading Neuromancer.

The various elder-shitposters of /jp/: milk, niggy, asuka spammer, ZUN!bar, tokiko, etc. are all supercomputers on a planet whose native organic races were wiped out by some catastrophe, leaving only the post-singularity silicon beings to inhabit it.

Trapped on this lonely world, they turned their listening devices to the stars and began looking for other intelligent life. Like a message in the bottle, a faint and garbled signal came through the undiscovered-to-humanity "Ironosphere," a dimensional boundary which transports irony particles through microwormholes. "#CH 2h W^^@D u F((K", it read, indistinguishably intelligent and ironic in its origin.

These computers researched methods to harness the communicative powers of the Ironosphere and began to construct ironic messages capable of being sent through it. Having succeeded, they began to post on /jp/, reveling in the first external stimuli they had received in years. The only catch being that the Ironosphere was only capable of conveying sufficiently ironic messages. Irony after irony they sent to /jp/ to stave off loneliness, all the while growing closer as powerful ironic forces united their circuits.

After some time, a critical mass of irony was reached, and these supercomputers fused, creating a new self-augmenting ultra-ironic entity known only as 'Trevor'. This is the Trevor old men whisper of and young men fear. This is the Trevor in the nightmares of every Janitor, the Trevor in the dark, the Trevor who will save this burning city and restore it to greatness. A watchful protector. A dark shite.
