Does touhou encourage unnatural lesbianism? And in turn create more fascist feminists?

It encourages natural lesbianism and in turn creates more good feminine girls.

How is lesbianism natural? It disgusting. Zun needs to introduce male touhous into the series so these evil things are not happen.

Gensokyo is a massive sociological experiment about the origins of female homosexuality triggered by lack of male counterpart, and it's carried by the fandom. ZUN is a genius.

>Does touhou encourage unnatural lesbianism?
No, it encourages supernatural lesbianism. What's the difference between natural and unnatural lesbianism anyway?

>And in turn create more fascist feminists?
Since this is presumably an outcome of unnatural lesbianism, probably not. Supernatural lesbianism creates cute, quirky girls with warm feelings who have superpowers and therefore don't need to get tangled up in silly things like identity politics.

That's old Greek thought, though, isn't it? Being concerned with what's "natural."

>> No.11554787

ZUN doesn't add any fan service (except for PC-98) and sometimes he actively avoids lewdness. I think this is one of the strengths of the series, and it makes sexualizing the characters more fun.

However, I think that means a lot of the fan base think the characters are either pure ingénue types (old-fashioned and sexist), or huge sluts behind the scenes (progressive and sexually-liberating). What they don't realize is that Gensokyo is a word where sexuality never enters into it, like a children's book.

I think it's nice to have a series like this, but it's a shame that people immediately jump to thoughts like, "Most of the cast are girls! I bet they're lesbians!"

I thought the bible was mostly about explaining things like who to kill in wars and how to treat your slaves.

>>11554787
You're right about Touhou innocence being meant to go deeper than the surface, but part of why it gets as sexualized as it does (I think) has to do with the stories from which some of the characters hail. Fairies and mikos may be innocent and neutral, but to name one example The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter is the exact opposite. The driving force behind the middle of that story was Kaguya's otherworldly beauty and sexual irresistibly, and that gets attached to all the Lunarians just because. Vampires and witches also come with a folklore that harbors overt sexual themes, and they're attached to notions of fertility, death and rebirth, perpetual beauty and youth, etc.

That stuff (and that's just for starters) isn't easy to decant. It doesn't just fall by the wayside when you try to downplay it or even ignore it completely.

Everyone loved Kaguya-hime for who she was. Lewdness didn't exist back then.

In before some crap about witch brooms.

>Lewdness didn't exist back then.
Umm... lewdness was pretty existent in classical Japan. Yes, the men in Bamboo Cutter were partly attracted to her by what their reputation stood to gain by wooing her, but the reason for that was her universally recognized sexual desirability. Most of the nobles chasing her had wives already, and some more than one along with children. They staked some amount of their identity on their prowess with women and Kaguya was the ultimate trophy. Even the Emperor starts going on about how he can't even feel anything for his own concubines and wives after seeing her once, that she made them look less than human by comparison. None of that is subtext, they just come out and say it. I need to go find my copy so I can cite things.

That was like hyper-simplified language and left out a shitload of details. I'm serious, I think that might actually have been shorter than the plot summary on Wikipedia. That was basically just the dust jacket blurb by the editor. I can see why you don't think there's any serious innuendo.
