I had a dream with Touhous in it once. It wasn't so much a Touhou fantasy as it was a nonsensical cross-over fanfic that just happened to prominently feature Touhous. It was pretty intense, I almost died a few times!

I wouldn't be surprised if that's true in canon. Somehow hobgoblins and chupacabras survived outside Gensoukyo, so either there's another separated mythical world for them to flourish or they're hiding out somewhere away from humans.

Zun kind of lampshaded that by saying that there are only "certain types of people" who really have any interest in danmaku battles. It's based on beauty rather than power, so the girl-to-guy ratio in the series may be no coincidence..

The reason so many old PC-98 characters don't reappear is because they have either died (likely during the vampire incident), or they grew old and simply stopped causing incidents. Alice grew up during the time skip, and stopped aging after she became a Youkai. The PC-98 Marisa settled down and married, while PC-98 Reimu either died or went missing in action while the current Reimu was still young.

Considering how I came up with a "Prismrivers are dead" theory before HM confirmed I was wrong, this feels really sad. The idea was that Miko's resurrection drew forth desires, manmade spectres, not unlike poltergeists, yet Prismrivers were absent in TD.

But of course, Prismrivers are taking it easy in HM.

I also keep suspecting the 'Border of fantasy' that separates Gensokyo, may not be about fantasy at all, and may be fundamentally different. There's no reference of any difficulty in leaving Gensokyo.

Mamizou is a god-tier youkai for being the only one to survive for so long in the outside world when even the gods fled to Gensokyo

Rin Satsuki was erased, not by Keine, but by a far higher power, which could or couldn't be Yukari. By erased, we mean somebody tried his earnest to erase her very own soul, which is naturally impossible. The mere strain of so much power trying to do something absolutely impossible caused everyone to forget her existence and herself to be retroactively erased from history.

Now her remains drift between existence and non-existence, incapable of interacting with the Touhou cast in any meaningful way. Her being is not; unnatural, but only here because something needs to remain where something once was. People forget her, and the people who don't subconsciously feel that something is very wrong with her. Time is strange, and her own recollections are a patchwork of sketchy memories.

Unable to die, because she never was truly alive, she wanders Gensokyo trying to answer this single question: why somebody would make what appears to be a very big hole in the fabric of the universe just to erase a single, lonely, inconsequential Kirin? What did she do? And is there a way to be reborn?

Would fanfic and buy the doujin with the strength of a thousand sun.

I came up with a very crazy mash up of anime and video games in my head to keep me entertained when bored in class. A mash up of Evangelion, Gundam, Halo, LOGH, Touhou, Mass Effect, Nanoha, and a ton of others. One I have right now in my head is a sequal to one I had in high school. I'd explain it but that would require knowing about the 1st one. I call it "Another Centuries Episode" since it's basically the same thing Banpresto does.

I already read Imperfect Metamorphosis. Fun and a good read, but there's nothing playing with the idea of a metaphysically erased Satsuki Rin in it.

I've come up with so much random shit I don't even know where to start.

Entire backstories, alternate universe settings, little interactions between characters, day-to-day goings on, etc.

Only I can't write or draw for shit so I've never really done anything with any of it.

I like to think that Keine was cursed to be a were-hakutaku by the hakutakus because she trespassed on their holy grounds or something.

Having her just be human leaves way too many questions open about her abilities and her past. You have to kinda go wayyyy out of your way to explain it well, due to the mention of how her magic is the kind you can't just go out and learn.

The brief mention in Eirin's IN profile is still a pretty heavy bit of evidence, hard to ignore it.

Also, to be fair, that example would make Sakuya only 1/4th Lunarian.

That's where I sit on it, either she has a limited ancestry or she got the way she is from Lunar magic-science reasons. No reason to go full moon, Lunar politics and science and society is complex enough that a few little oddities popping out doesn't rustle me, and I do find it easier to swallow than "She's just some awesome girl."

It's like she's a researcher dealing with monkeys when she interacts with people. Eirin's a character I didn't really pay much mind at first, but the more I try working with her character and backstory, the more I like her.

Yeah, she does have a lot of shortcomings, but her character's expressions and body language, as well as her panel progressions during dialogue, both always seem perfectly natural and flowing to me.

I kind of know what you mean, everyone in Eientei sort of grew on me a lot after I started looking into them.

Since this is a fantasy thread I guess I'll add that sometimes I imagine that Eirin, Patchouli, and Keine (and sometimes a few others) occasionally gather for afternoon tea or drinks at one of their homes and talk academics well into the night. Not so often that it risks becoming repetitive, but a few times a year.

Between the brainier people in Gensokyo there's probably the better part of all human knowledge, and somewhat more. Eirin probably strips out most of them, but Patchouli probably has a better grounding in the arcane and Keine can't be beat for social history. It would be lovely to talk with all of them if they were in a conversational mood.

I just want to go for a walk through the woods with Kanako and Suwako. Me and Kanako would hold Suwako's hands and swing her back and forth between us.

And when Suwako got tired, I'd put her up on my shoulders and we'd go home and have dinner.

Trying to come up with anything for Meiling involving people outside the SDM is pretty rough. Having her basically chained to her position means everyone else has to pretty much come to her.

Being some of the only physical fighters based on a style of combat left in Gensokyo, having Youmu stop by for friendly sparring every once in a while is a nice thought. And when they're done they can talk about gardening, then Youmu can go and fawn over Sakuya's amazing maid skills.

Reisen visiting regularly (perhaps to sell various wares, or bring a specific medication for Patchouli) is also a nice thought. Meiling seems the type who would listen to Reisen's woes from Eientei, though Reisen would probably be a bit rude and tease-y at first.

I had a dream where I was part of a resistance group fighting against Flandre and Remilia. I was working on my 3DS which when cracked would enable me to control superman. Things didn't work out however as someone brought back a loli to the hideout which was actually a spy. Remilia and Flandre discover us and I am arrested. Cut to their home. I am tied up on a table with both the vampires hovering over me, taunting me. For some reason I fail to bargain away my 3DS. I'm killed after that. Then I respawn as someone with invisibility to everyone expect Flandre and Remilia. I infiltrate their home with revenge in mind. I sneak around the house. Flandre is having maids attend to her while Remilia is sipping tea outside on the balcony. Since I am a pervert my idea of revenge is to steal all of her panties and escape. It turns out that Remilia has no panties and instead her undergarments consist entirely of childish gym bottoms. They get angry and stay up night after night waiting for me. I somehow come into procession of an embarrassing tape in which Flandre prances around like a super hero. I play it while displaying it on big skyscraper like screens in the middle of a big city. Everyone is laughing at her performance. We see her flying down the city streets humming to herself happily however before she can see it I for some reason feel bad and turn it off before it shatters her emotionally. The rest of the dream involves losing my powers by dropping a card that somehow contains them and trying to retrieve it.
