You know what would be neat? If one of our talented artists created some generic Touhou sprite sheets for /jp/ to use, then all the expert programmers went off and made a game using them. We could even make it a contest to see who makes the best one. It wouldn't be too difficult once the assets are done, since people could just use GameMaker or Unity or whatever they're comfortable with. Even the flood of "ironic" games might be worth a laugh.

I suppose that judging by the state of the current /jp/ Project even this might be too ambitious, but it would be an interesting experiment if we have any pixel artists with some spare time on their hands.

CTR completely redone with 2h chars. The tracks would be the same butdesigned more like gensokyo. It would be the same game but just a bunch of graphic mods.

Real time strategy. Goal is to clean up radiation from the Okuu incident. You must resolve this successfully while maintaining public support. If public opinion turns against you, then Reimu will attack.

I've had this idea for a while.


A Heroes of Might and Magic clone.

Chireiden's best unit dwelling would be an underground sun spawning yatagarasu and the heroes would be Satori, Koishi and all of Satori's pets.

Hakugyokurou would be similar to necropolis and spawn phantoms from defeated enemy troops.

Scarlet Devil Mansion's creature dwellings spawn different maids and unholy creatures from christian mythology.

Human village gets human warriors, some half-youkai and whatnot. Gets better rice paddies and things cost more rice and less of the other resources.

Hakurei shrine gets mini Suikas and some different Shinto creatures.

Resources would be rice, sake, faith, yen, magical crystals and wood. A day is split into 4 turns: morning, day, evening and night.
Having this would let the heroine touhous have different abilities that give bonuses depending on time of the day.
Different terrains give different bonuses to different creatures and heroes. For example: Chireiden gets a movement bonus when underground and Hakurei units move faster in the woods.

Each faction has their own storyline starting with a short tutorial campaign starring the Hakurei faction. Hakurei gets another campaign later on.
Last comes the Human village campaign where the humans are getting nervous and angry that man-eating youkai are appearing and the other inhabitants in Gensoukyo aren't doing enough to stop the man-eaters.

Then some more things and blabla.

Ooh, or have like a mystery twist to it and have Aya/Hatate documenting strange anomalies in the caves, returning to the surface to write about it in their newspaper to recruit other characters to progress into dangerous places they couldn't go themselves or carry samples to the surface for Eirin to examine.
Soon you'll have human village workers set up outposts as you travel further underground and a lunarian research center finding some new type of crystal that powers up your camera and captures evil spirits. Then theres a part where you reach the old hell city and its completely fucking abandoned. You wander the streets and homes photographing clues and shit. Holy fuck why am I hyping myself up for something i'll never see.

Maybe Okuu goes nuclear and her eyepiece could be the last boss. Seems like a good setting for the final showdown. Nitori is there blasting away at the enlarged eyepiece before it goes critical, then she destroys it and the reactor core is set to explode. She escapes and meets Okuu, who is fine and thanks Nitori for helping out.

Perhaps Nitori could even be responsible, like she tried to create her own reactor core to save Okuu some work in the Underworld, but it went wrong.

You could even go with Youmu because of the sword, like in this mock-up. Sakuya can be the guardian of the Shrine of Time who imbues Youmu's ocarina with the power of the Lunar Dial, allowing her to time travel.

Sieges are similar to Total War sieges, taking multiple turns and building siege equipment.
The siege equipment would be different kinds of rams, depending on faction, ladders and such. Humans would get special war machines to keep up with the magic of the others.


More on the time and weather system.

One day is 4 turns. Some heroes and creatures get buffs, or debuffs, depending on what time it is and what weather it is.
Remilia and Flandre would get a small buff when the sun is completely gone and a debuff when the sun is at its highest. But if there's overcast, then there wouldn't be any debuff
for the day turn.

The human village would get buffs depending on how bright it is. During the day they would get increased movement but during a night without the moon they would move
have to move slower. Upon entering a dark realm the same thing would kick in. However, certain hero skills and abilities can remove debuffs or make buffs stronger.


The tengu faction start with movement skills because of a little thing called flight. But to balance the factions, only some units in the tengu faction are tengu.
Maybe the faction could be a mix of mountain dwellers.


Now to the "Evil" faction that would be the antagonist of the game. The faction consists of youkai that have broken the normal youkai rules and made their own within
their kin. Their rules are to not eat those in the alliance. But they don't care if you eat enemies. These cannibalistic youkai are now trying to setup a base within Gensoukyo
but the youkai that are already living there do not agree. So the "good" youkai want the "evil" youkai to stop. Youkai attract the youkai exterminator and all this ruckus makes
the people of the human village nervous.

One of the "evil" youkais' faction abilities would be to capture enemies and eat them. Maybe it is a bit too dark for touhou but other horrible things have happened in the touhouverse.
