It's appealing to me because I always dream about the old ways of war. When ever I see a vantage point I imagine and start planning within my head how a castle or fort would be erected there, how many troops to hold there, what the structure would look like, what goods are available and of worth in the area, and then I realize I will never be in a time period where melee or small inadequate fire arms will be in use.
