Am I the only one who think Ever17 was really, really overrated?
Honestly I thought it was average at best, the four first routes were pretty mediocre with a few good moments (most of them inTsugumi's route) and while the bricks were good, they asked for a lot of suspension of belief, it also falter quite a bit at the end.

And the plot, while not bad, wasn't amazing either, it was never meaningful nor thought provoking so the plot ended up being quite forgettable.

Ever17 as a whole is certainly not bad, it had some really good scene like the Tsugumi's big revelation in Coco's route and You was pretty hot but it certainly isn't a masterpiece.

Of those I played, Phantom of Inferno easily.
It had an extremely well paced scenario and some really well developed characters, the writing was also pretty good(though the translation was pretty mediocre sometimes)

I can see why it's so highly revered though the premise of the game doesn't really do much for me.

If you are trapped in a situation spelling almost certain death with a bunch of women something like this (with sex of course) is bound to happen.

I found that while Ever17 some really good plotlines, they were really drawn out, and once you're on the last one, generally with the character you have the least interest in, it gets a bit tedious before the grand finale.

I enjoyed pretty much every route in Clannad, on the other hand. Albeit, each one a bit less overall than Ever17, but they were all consistently enjoyable, and didn't feel drawn out. I didn't really like the finale as much, by far, compared to Ever17, though.
