But the look of the characters matters far more in harem. They have to be physically/sexually appealing so nerds can better receive it.

I agree completely OP. It all went to shit with the new characters, like Remilia or Flandre or Cirno. And don't even get me started with Yuyuko or all the totally retarded bullshit with Yukari "I rape teh canon" Yakumo.

DDC does have much art and TD cast is being treated like shit by the fanbase. At least the few fans of the TD cast are enamored. I don't see this happening with DDC.

TD's design is nice; it's just different. It's way more oriental-influenced than the other games, but it's not bad (except maybe in the eyes of MurriKKKans).
But yeah, DDC is boring.

Futo and Miko are my favorite TD 2hus, haven't played DDC past Stage 3 yet because of my chronic restartitis(1bomb/death before st5 = insta reset.), but I think I'll like the 2hus in DDC too. I miss the days where I didn't have restartitis.

I like Kagerou and Seija. Raiko is kind of growing on me too. I think the other two instrument ones are pretty boring, though.

TD characters were excellent. I don't think there's any other game where I've got some feelings about every member of the cast. That doesn't mean I like every one of them, mind you, but there's usually at least one Touhou I don't care about at all. Letty or Yuugi or whatever. Not here.

DDC is bad, though. Just...really bad.

I like TD characters though, at least more than UFO characters. DDC was the worst I think, but still not that bad. I just don't like the instruments.
