There isn't one. Some of the better ones are Touhou Puppet Play 1.8 Enhanced and Touhou 1.812 Emerald. If you want something closer to the original Pokemon mechanics, both Touhoumon Blue and Touhoumon Aqua+Yui are pretty good. Another World and World Link require some bullshit grinding but are basically playable, and Touhoumon Lunatic and Extra are so vile and awful that I'd rather have my teeth pulled without anesthetics than play through them.

He actually showed some promise with his much less ridiculous hack Scarlet Emerald. Despite the still high (but much less ridiculous) level curve, he gave a lot more love to the PC-98's than most Touhoumon games do. Kaguya is probably one of the best flexible Bonéka to have on your team. The problem with training her is that while her attacks and defenses are mostly balanced, her speed is a little low in exchange for massive HP. Assuming you're playing in English as well, the ones people tend to play are :

- Touhoumon Merry's Edition. This is 1.5. Has Final/EX/Advent/Dark forms.

- Touhoumon Emerald and Touhoumon Enhanced. These are both 1.8. They do not have Final/EX/Advent/Dark forms.

From my personal opinion, Merry's is more of a casual/fun experience if you're not too familiar with either Pokemon or Touhou. I find the sprites cuter, but the game is really easy to break and steamroll.

Emerald and Enhance are definitely more challenging/balanced, and I'd recommend them to someone much more seasoned in Pokemon.

Most of the trade evolutions don't really seem like anything more than pseudo-legendary fodder, save for SSariel which is just ridiculous. As for the actual legendaries, as cute as they are the only one that actually has any use out of their prevolution is Shingyoku. The rest just get moves that could have just as easily been given to their legendary forms.

Also, I kind of wish they didn't still give the Touhous with advent forms 2 extra forms still. It's kind of going a bit far when you have Touhous with 4 different evolutions (and Alice even has 5).

>tfw Locations.txt claims Chibi Mokou is in Route 119 and you have been searching the grass in fast-forward for 2 hours because you want one

I hope she's actually here and it's not a mistype.

Play through a game, catch 'em all (or what you want). Then use that save to breed eggs and trade them to a new game. Alternatively, cheat.

But I hate it when the little fuckers don't obey my commands. Especially with the inherent XP bonus obtained by trading. If you use them a bit too much, they'll become conceited and think you can't do without them. Then they inadvertently start ordering you around. "Huh, you want me to attack that little wimp? Better lick my shoes first before I even start moving, asshole!"

That's why I said trade them as eggs, when they hatch they belong to you, and don't get the exp boost, nor the disobedience. Alternatively cheat. You can always hack your starter too.

Oh, really? I didn't know trading worked like this. Fuck yeah, here comes my dream team.

I don't even know how I'd begin to trade between two VBAs. Run two instances of the emulator and use VBA Link or some shit?

Probably easier to just look into hackingg/cheating the starters. No idea how to do that either.

It doesn't really matter right now anyways, I finally have my Mokou.

VBALink _is_ the emulator. You could probably also use VBA-M, which should be newer and possibly better (didn't test the link part yet). You just run two instances in parallel (don't forget to disable “Pause emulator in background”) and then hope for the best when starting up the link.

VBA-M linking works but they run about 1/4 of the speed they would normally. I was going to make a post about it a while back but kinda forgot to do it.
