I just started collecting figmas but don't have a lot of money, so sometimes I'll just try to look for a second-hand that's in good condition. That said, is there a more effective way to clean off dirt spots on your figs other than a wet tissue paper without damaging it? Been trying to restore this one but she has collect dust in-between her hair and some stubborn dirt spots which kind of bug me. I'm not sure if it's safe to be putting her under running water and soap or what kind of cloth is okay other than tissue paper.

Figma is a brand name man. It refers to posable non-scale figures made by Good Smile Company. If you're talking about scale figures just say "figure".

There really isn't an issue with just rinsing as far as I know. For stubborn stuff I've found magic eraser sponges work wonders. But just keep in mind it does abrade just on a very small scale. I usually cut off a very small block of the sponge and hold it with tweezers, make sure you don't use pointed ones and even then take care not to slip and gouge the figure.

I just started. And right off the bat I made a couple small scratches on my fig which aren't very noticeable but could see it if you inspect it really closely. Is there a "quick fix" for tiny scratches on paint or is it just screwed? It's a rather unique color so not like I could just sharpie it over or anything.

I don't know. I just realized theres 2 tiny little scratches on the pants today and been bugging me since. I never handled it roughly.

I tried to take a picture but it's too tiny to see on a cellphone and I don't have a digital camera. It's just 2 very thin white marks that are half the length of an eyelash. Literally no depth in the scratch, just looks like the paint got scratched off.

Though if your scratch is SO LIGHT that it's just some kind of top coat or the plasticizer, then I think if you just used a magic eraser sponge it might sand down the raised scratch area and look alright.

Hm! I haven't had that happen I only used the Mr. Clean brand (the ones with his face on the sponge) and I've used them on:
Usami Haru 1/8th on her boob where there was some transference from her hair. (pictured)
Kuroneko Akiba Memories 1/8th on her panties because because it was before I had a case and they were dirty since she basically sits on them
Furyu Color King Kuroyukihime on her eye because it was a little runny
Furyu Cthugha around her stomach because it was FILTHY

So I haven't had really bad luck, as far as what makes one Melamine sponge good or bad. I'm not sure. I always make sure to use a very small chunk cut off, as small as possible, and a decent amount of water. I guess there could be some issue here in where you want less abrasive ones but that's not really the general desire out of the product.

I guess we can assume the paint on your Miku really sucked (even put on worse than a prize figure's eye), you were scrubbing too hard, or you got some really harsh sponge. It's really hard to tell but I appreciate the info since I was about to use a store brand on a figure.

It was just this cheapo Miku figure by SEGA that I started out on. I wanted to clean her hair. And I didn't have to scrub hard at all before the color rubbed off onto the sponge. All I did was gradually rub on a spot with a soaked piece of the sponge.

Also, don't take my word for it. For all we know your store bought brand works just as fine as Mr. Clean. I unfortunately do not have access to it, so have to work with what I got.
