How do you foretell how a figma's price will rise or plummet later? I realize there are a number of factors but one post I read on myfigurecollection, a guy was like "oh this is made by Chara-Ani so the price will go down" (it didn't).

Supply and demand.

Whats a typical /jp/ fig collection look like? Considering they tend to be expensive as fuck for the higher quality ones in North America...

>> No.11343834

If there are re-releases, the price is more likely to go down.

I have roughly 125 figures. It's a variety of scaled, prize and nendoroid petites.

If by figma you actually mean that particular type of figure then they usually don't go crazy high after-market.
If you're talking about scales/statues then it's more variable. If they sell out in per-orders then they usually get more expensive after-market.

As mentioned re-releases can have some effect but re-releases are pretty rare.

This guy made the same mistake in the other figure thread, calling figures figmas. So he's probably new.

Price goes down like the other anon said based on supply and demand. Godoka went down because they made too much. The QuesQ Ueda Bakemonogatari figures went down because they had bad QC.

Also Myfigurecollection is full of idiots who regularly declare something as poor quality and smugly remark they'll get it when it hits the "bargain bin". Then the price never drops.

You can't predict it. People are willing to pay more or less for many different reasons. Anyone who claims to be able to predict is a liar or a fool.

COnsidering how often I have seen it I'm thinking this is some sort of mild way of trolling.

What he said. You can't predict the price for the same reason you can't predict stock prices. It depends on too many factors which you do not know about and have no way of influencing. If you happen to correctly predict price development once, that's just dumb luck. Nothing more, nothing less.

>> No.11352815

waiting for price drops with figures is pretty stupid
most good figures go up in price after release because they are sold out
and even in the case that the price does go down, you'll only save like 1000 yen

That was me and yeah I did start this thread a few days ago. It was only until you corrected me in the other thread. I'm new to the figure stuff but I've actually been on /jp/ (exclusively) since it split with /a/ years ago. I just haven't been around for the past 2 years as much so I guess I may as well be new to this board again. Please excuse my ignorance. I'm actually kind of embarrassed now.

The sad part is I wasn't trolling.

Your ignorance is cute, for now.
>>11352815
For a laugh look at any slightly questionable quality figure on MFC or hell look even at some BEAUTIFUL ONES you'll see non-stop talk about bargain bin.
