Baldr Sky Zero trial - Suddenly that nostalgic BGM coming up, tears almost flooded my eyes. However being a "Zero" part, I hope it branches away from Kou's stuff (like down to mere cameo level). Time to get used to being trigger-happy.

Twinkle Crusaders is full of happy and colorful things with minimal conflict. Pretty good gameplay and surprisingly very lewd H scenes too. Be also sure to play the more complete fan disc (PSS, it includes Miracle Disc content) afterwards.
Princess Witches which is a spiritual ancestor to Twinkle has a better plot, though the latter half has pleeeeenty of "not so cutesy" things. I also really liked the music in both.

You could also try out the new pseudo dating sim Lovely x Cation 2. I've only played through two heroines (Hime and Hinata) so far but both of those routes were filled with hnnnnnnnnnnggggg.

I could never actually find a torrent for Remaster so I don't even know what they actually changed in it. The official website doesn't have anything I didn't see in the Regular edition either. Maybe some extra stuff such as art books or soundtrack that usually come with special editions?

Anyways you should be good to go with either one. And yeah, play the main game first and Passion Star Stream fan disc after that. Make sure to play Princess Witches if you're planning on also going through the non canon optional crossover story in PSS.

Route order doesn't really matter apart from saving Azel for last. That's the most canon continuity for PSS, though it still takes a "protagonist didn't end up with anyone" approach while making way for the two new heroines.

That's simply because not many gaijins actually read these in Japanese. There's tons of English speaking VN fans who don't have much to choose from due to lack of translations (so they're always bound to find someone to discuss a translated game with) while there's thousands of untranslated ones compared to relatively tiny amount of Japanese reading foreign VN fans.

Some anon in last thread asked about favorite seiyuu and around 13 people replied to him. If that's any indication of active posters in this general then it's no wonder there's not many people talking about the slightly more obscure titles.

Grinding in Madoukoukaku and going on the magic route; seems like I did some early bits too well that Ranaheim kept on failing to take Fomial city, so I have to wait for Yun Gasol (the industrial empire) to take over and declare war on them later.

Finished Baldr Sky Zero trial: the new system favours heavy guns so the CQC combo system really takes a back seat, and the new force crushes are a little hard to incoporate into the the CQC combo (probably not designed so). That said, it still kept the modern Baldr Sky theme and feel alive, and probably closer to the reality of actual combat (yeah, who goes to do CQC soloing few dozen drones in a room when you have rockets, lasers, etc).

I played a couple of routes and couldn't bring myself to continue, but that's basically what always happens when I play Yuzusoft games.
It's really standard moe with above average art, try it if you find some of the girls cute but don't count on engaging routes or anything.

That's correct, early in Dive you are practically relying on the machine gun, beam bullet gun and the bazooka, the pistol pea shooter is a joke. The system in Dive rewards you later going heavily into CQC with majority of the move list being CQC chain rather than range weapons. However for Zero, the system is simplified, instead of a 4-command button, now we get 3; further a per-button single move heat bar so combo is no longer a mix of various moves but instead repeated actions of the same move. Tapping A-A-A in Zero is very different to doing the same in Dive, the former is a single move, the latter allows 3 different moves (doesn't stop you fitting same move 3 times though). However this doesn't stop in later part of Zero where single move unlocks that forms a chain by itself, like A one time gets you a kick, A-A gets you a kick then a spin kick and so on. You know, the visual variety.

It's a good game if you like the characters I guess. The story wasn't that engaging. I love Sana and the teacher. I don't even remember if their routes were any good, but I loved them so fucking much, especially Yukari.

Finished Zero trial. It actually ran very smoothly on medium apart from the few non-battle 3D scenes which don't seem to be affected by graphics settings for some reason. Can't really say what to expect yet, though I assume there will be plenty of harder difficulty settings since even the Queen Bee boss fight was bit of a pushover. Just hit enemies with everything in your arsenal and boost away. The boost uses aren't tied to your combos anymore (they now recharge even while you're attacking) so you can employ infinite hit'n'run attacks without need to worry about suddenly slowing to a crawl midway.

Hopefully they don't recycle the old BGMs from Sky 1&2 too much since I still have those on my mp3 player and I've listened them to death already.

The heroines were great, especially Shin. Natsuki didn't get much screen time but she was good as well.

Can't actually say yet. The trial doesn't really have that much plot or any indication about what's it going to be like at all. In short:

Protagonist wakes up as amnesiac, this time not even remembering his own name > escape the battlefield > the girl who saved him introduces the rest of the squadmates and they have some simulcram training + short recap of the world events > mysterious airhead girl is found in the protagonist's room who also wants to join Fenrir > first proper mission to raid some company who are apparently developing unethical technologies (protagonist isn't told anything apart from mission objectives) > squad captain blackmails the target company chief mid battle and you're tasked to kill the the Queen Bee (an insane pilot spewing endless amount of viruses) which they let out in defense during Fenrir's attack but can't contain anymore > victory, one of the squadmates takes the Queen's body and everyone safely logs out > End of trial, please buy our game.

It basically reintroduces the world and the new battle mechanics but didn't let out anything else. Heroines or other characters didn't really get me that hooked yet, but it would be cool if the game focuses more on the entire squad working together rather than just having the protagonist work solo most of the time while meeting the heroines every once in a while like in Sky1&2.

Also the protagonist was unvoiced in all scenes that didn't take place in the virtual reality.

Totono had some great ideas and really bad execution. The renai parts were really subpar, the last part of Aoi's route and the start of part three were pretty cool (I'll the game that), part three became boring once the gimmick wore off, and the ending felt like rushed and half baked. If the renai was good it itself and the ending was actually meaningful I would consider it a 8/10 game but I was left madder than I should have been because it felt like it should have been a better game than it was. I don't know if the DVD version will have anything different though. At least there wasn't any Sonico.

All things said, with the exclusion of the end of part 2 and the start of Miyuki's wild ride, I had more fun reading ラヴレッシブ (a game no one will remember by next year) than Totono.

What happened to nitroplus? They haven't made a great game in 4 years, they keep putting out promotional shit, and they have been unsuccessfully shoving Sonico down our throats for years. I know they have a game in the works but I won't get hyped up for it.
