It doesn't but it doesn't say they are on topic either. The whole "Otaku Culture" thing is rather nebulous. It seems the staff is only really allowing what is explicitly stated in the rules(VNs, touhou, idols, figures, ect..) and just deleting everything else.

NEET threads, yeah. Banning or deleting NEET/hiki content within other threads should still be acceptable if not encouraged. Personally, I'm on the bux, but I go to school full time too and will graduate with a B.Sc. in 2014. So I shitpost about NEET life on /jp/ because I've spent almost 2 years of my life being NEET and even been homeless a couple times for two or so weeks. So it's hard to identify with normals when they post about their irl social lives and that kind of blatantly unironic type of posting needs to be kept out of /jp/ (or in fact all of 4chan except /fa/ and /soc/ the containment boards) and never encouraged.

If more people came here to continue the conversations it wouldn't matter as much. I'm interested in the interaction. Posting a wall of text about my NEET life and hoping people read it isn't really my style. I like responding to and engage people. /jp/ has some interesting posters even though we normally don't show it.

I come for VNs and touhou but it's nice to be able to discuss other things sometimes. As long as it's not spilling over into every thread or there are multiple hikki/NEET threads going on at the same time, I don't really think it's a problem. It's not going to bump off the other mainstay threads.

It would be cool if we good keep a running NEET/hikki thread going. Only making a new one when the current one starts autosaging (or even hits post or image limit or drops off the last page. Fuck it. /jp/ isn't a page 0 board).

/jp/ was full of threads that looked like that for years, before people decided that every borderline thread should be a nonstop shitposting party instead. It has fucking nothing to do with Reddit. In fact, blaming Reddit for everything and that are both new.
