They are indeed. It might fit for a child, but I actually prefer little girls with bigger hips. For now, I'm just trying out all kinds of things with anatomy and see what looks good.

Is it worth buying used tablets? I really want one with at least 6x11 active area and was looking at the Intuos3. However, I found that anything that big costs like 600 dollars or more for new ones which is way more than I have. Used ones were way cheaper, and some of them didn't look in that badly worn, but I'm still very weary. Why are even slightly used tablets so much cheaper? Why the huge price difference from a new one?

>> No.11330392

Yes. A $50 tablet gives you more control and power than a $5000 mouse. Start small with one of the Wacom Bamboo ones. You don't need to get the lowest end model if you can afford more~ the Bamboo Create is comparable to the Intuos3.

Be wary most of those used tablets are without the pen. Many of the ebay shits separate them because they can make more money off of it. Quality of used will vary from seller to seller. Best point of wear is to look at the label on the back of the tablet. Once that is worn heavily will likely be a tablet that will n ot last long. MOST IMPORTANT verify the surface. The surface sheet must be pristine. No scratches wear or nicks. Also good to make sure someone stocks replacement sheets. These DO wear out. I have the widescreen intuos 3 (631w) last I looked there was some cock selling them for 100usd, they sold originally from intuos for 40usd.

New tablets have non replaceable surfaces, be aware of this since that "paper" texture DOES wear out which means your replacing the whole unit vs just a sheet of composite plastic.

Of course Beethoven did his finest works (7th and 9th S.) while deaf. The thing is: he was already a very experienced composer by those days and, when you work at that level, you don't really need to hear sounds to make music: music is not the sounds (which are just the interpretation) but the formal relations established between certain signs within a tradition (polyphony, counterpoint, modes, tonality, microtonality, free atonality, integral serialism...) so music can very well be made, so to say it, "directly on paper". Do you think Bach used made the variations over his themes sitting in front of the clavichord? do you think he could even play most of his stuff himself? of course no: he had a first idea, which could come from experimenting on an instrument or from his imagination, and then he would develop it on the score with his knowledge of harmony and his craftsman experience on how certain effects "look like" on paper...

11333186

...
Painting is not comparable to this because within it there is no such thing as a score or similar interface in which all the chromatic and tone values that constitute a piece can be written down in characters for anyone else to read, interpret and so reproduce a piece faithfully enough: that's simply not how a painting is made. Also, in music there's no such things as mimesis in the traditional sense: while we normally paint "trees", "clouds", "people" and other stuff we can see and try to copy by the means of some technique and materials, music do not emulate pre-existing sounds; it works differently: music is been abstract art from the very beginning; it might emulate other disciplines' rules of organization, as in the stochastic music of Xenakis, but never aims for "naturalistic" stuff, not even in impressionist or some of Messiaen's music, neither on aleatory or ambiance experiments like Cage's: that's simply not how music is made.

So comparing music and painting is much more problematic than it might look at first. And being able to do either of them competently, doesn't mean you actually understand what you're doing let alone being capable of explaining/teaching them to others. Unlike the masters, average artists are very talented technicians but extremely poor esthetes.

It certainly takes way more than naked technique (or any sort of dry recipe to follow robotically) to achieve decent results. Talent does exist but it needs of a fair intellectual trajectory, a very critical attitude, theoretical knowledge and awareness of styles and schools to really bloom, thus rendering itself as the given hability to check all these requirements faster and not to skip them. We all have our own unbreakable limits but you won't know where they lie until you push yourself to them. However, unless you go terribly weak-sighted, Parkinson or something of the sort, age is certainly not specially against you to start learning to draw for pleasure at any given time (like it is, for example, in ballet).

>draw like a motherfucking fist of the north star.

I know you need to practice to get good (at anything, not just drawing) but this is only half true. Look at DA. There are people there who have been drawing Sonic and Pikachu regularly for half a decade showing no improvements. Take CWC for example. The guy has been at it for nearly two decades and he still draws like a child. Okay maybe it's a extreme example, so look at the Megatokyo artist whose name I forgot. That guy has professional training, too (he was an architect) and even got published.

I think it's important to have a clear goal or objective of some kind before picking up a hobby. You know, the kind of motivation that constantly makes you think "no, this isn't working. I need to try something else" and pushes you out of your comfort zone to try new things. Some people do this naturally. I don't. Drawing just for the sake of drawing doesn't work for me. Maybe that's what sets apart the true artists from the bored faggots with nothing better to do.

yeah, you're not gonna get better if you just draw the same stupid thing (sonic for example) from the same angle, over and over again
you need to study anatomy a bit to see how the muscles and bones work
but drawing more is still the most important thing, if you just draw for few times and give up because it's too hard then obviously you're not gonna get any better
it's the same with learning anything

Nobody here uses flash? I mean I suck at drawing but if my art doesn't moves or if I can't make a mini game out of it I feel that its just boring.

Drawing on PS got old really fast... Also you got pretty much the same tools on Flash now, it wasn't like that before through.

I did some random sketch and tried coloring it. Since I can't really into colors and always sucked at it, this is the first time I somehow like what I came up with, it's still really basic shit though.

>at 30 you're already done
Yes, the brain continues to mature until around 30 years. But you can still train new skills after 30.

>people become young adults with trained skills
Mind you that's only a few skills and they took over 10 years acquiring them. Maturation effects practically guarantee that you can learn anything a teenager can learn (from the same starting point) at ten times the rate.

>too old? U R OUT FAGGOT
You are only too old at around 55+ when it becomes increasingly more difficult to learn new things. The sweet spot is really from around 25 to 40.

Back then I used a 0.5 HB propelling pencil and it was enough. Now I am a control freak so I use pencils again, from 6H to 2B (though normally around 3H), but most of the time very well sharpened, literally like a needle. I also sort of draw with the eraser (sharpened as well) by making highlights, soft edges and such, and I am very conscious about the appropriate pressure I apply on every single stroke.

For me at least, there's no special trick about making complicated textures. You simply have to draw them: every single little thing you want to happen there, you have to consciously put it there yourself.

So I have this site rip from Carre that I thought about using as references for practice.
But I'm really skeptical about how much "copying" really makes you improve.

It's like, in a math class, if you just copy shit from the blackboard you won't actually learn anything.

So I don't know, are there things I should be looking out for?

You can't invent anatomy and the human figure you retard.
So you have to use references until your mental library is full and your drawing skill are up to par to draw a human in any angle and pose.

Ignoring references turns you to average dA anime artist #29303
