I don't have anything against minecraft but the community is crap. The game itself isn't terrible but it's not that good. It has bad coding and a lot of the "great" things about it are made by the community and are not shipped with the standard game. The standard game gets boring after a while. Maybe because I was playing singleplayer but I have a feeling multiplayer is more of a circlejerk than "oh lol sooo fun xD"

Minecraft was revolutionary. It was so simple, yet so elegant at the same time. It really satiated the desire to just explore and hit all the chords of the return to 8-bit to create a satisfying experience. Anyone who grew up with the NES and saw the evolution of games from 2D to 3D could really appreciate the value that Minecraft brought to the table. Of course the little shits for whom Halo was babby's first FPS wouldn't care for it.

I liked that Japanese mod, "Cute Mobs" or whatever it was.

I keep catching up with it every so often and it annoys me what they change. I really miss the Alpha days when it was just about mining and building, before it was even considered a multiplayer game.
They ought to add a "Survival Classic" mode that isn't about adventuring or hunger, but just digging mines and making blocky houses. You can still do all the same stuff, but the tone of the game has changed in a way I don't like.

But you can take it too far in the opposite direction, which a lot of people do with Minecraft. The lo-fi style looks cool, but people wear liking it as a badge of honor. They're not one of those plebeians who care about graphics in a visual medium! They also watch movies in 1-bit black and white at 360x240.

LEGO is a neat idea too.
I never said Minecraft was original. In fact, Notch stole the basic concept from Infiniminer, and most of the elements are simplified versions of things we've all seen before. But it works, so it's a neat idea.

What's wrong with that argument? The awards came from some relevant authorities, not the National Toilet Cleaners Association. Even if you think the mainstream video game journalists are corrupt, there were smaller awards, too. Plus I doubt Mojang paid off IGN or whatever.

These daily updates in minecraft are annoying. Whenever i wanna play some hours minecraft and start the game, it forces me to update my version and then i have to reinstall optifine, minimap, texturepacks etc. Why don't they wait 3-4 months and then make one big update instead the current shit they're doing?

I remember when Notch did Friday updates. It was pretty exciting because every week it was like, "Cool, a new block!" out of nowhere. Now they always announce stuff and post Twitter Tumblr Instagrams and it's less fun.

I never build anything "aesthetic". Everything I make is blocky and modular and fits some sort of pattern. Shelters are just big boxes. Mines are formulated grids accessible in the most efficient and simple way possible.

The problem is that I end up with all these materials, then I never do anything with them. Fighting dragons is dumb and does not belong in Minecraft. I just gather resources to gather more resources, then they go into the appropriate chests. Eventually I get bored and make a new world, then start over.
