So my family is moving soon, and I'm going to be sort of shafted when it comes to living space. Due to this, I've been considering buying a futon rather than moving my already existing bed, both to save space, and because I just like the idea of having one to be honest.
Problem is, I sleep on my stomach, which is rather rare, as most people sleep on their back or side. So I need to find a nice, thick futon that will support me so as to keep my back in good shape.
Do any of you good fellows on /jp/ have a futon? What kind do you own? Where did you get it?

Feel free to turn this thread into Japanese Furniture general as well.

I have a futon. I'm not sure what brand it is but I got it in just a normal furniture store.

It's pretty comfy and big enough for two people.

>> No.11275537

Kinda in the same spot you are.

I had thought about a futon, but instead opted for a regular mattress. No box spring or frame. I just place that fucker on the floor and go from there.

While you can't fold it like a futon, you can stand it up. And, I got a twin size. So plenty of room for one person, lots of support, and easy to move around.

I hope this helps.

That sounds like a possible solution. Though I think a futon might look nicer in the end, I suppose that may be a good alternative financially as well.

How big of a bed do you have now? If it isn't bigger than a full size, I'd take that for now.

I just checked Amazon for shits and grins. You can get 8 inch futons for $150 minimum. The nice ones are $200+ so if you don't have the cash right away, I'd just take your mattress.

I keep a mattress cover on mine, a 500 thread count. And I have a nice big comforter to cover up with.

A futon is just a bed, you can use it however you want to sleep. It's not so complicated. The problem is if you aren't accustomed to sleeping on one you'll get terrible sleep.

>nice, thick futon
Just get a regular mattress. It doesn't matter how thick a futon is, it will compress and be firm.

>> No.11276688

>>11275450
Futons always look terrible. They are a big neon sign to anyone who sees it, that you have no money and/or are a man-child. They are in the same class as bunk beds. Get a real bed. Chicks don't want to sit on where you sleep. The only people who can possibly get away with Futons are children.

That's not true unless you're 30 or some shit. I've had college babes compliment my futon.

Sounds like you live in some backward hick area.

It must be the NEET furniture thread, since Japanese furniture on its own definitely isn't otaku culture.
