I spent all of last night obsessing as to what kind of spider she is based on. She is obviously an underground spider, but does she wait for prey or is she an active hunter? Her colors indicate she is not one of the most poisonous ones.

She does live in abandoned locations and ruins. If her goal was to capture humans, she would be over ground, knitting her webs near paths, like spider youkai in other legends did (which were based on marauding bands of criminals who attacked civilians).

It's more likely that if she eats things, then she eats smaller prey.

From what I can tell, depending on species, spiders can have between 10 and 3,000 offspring. Of course a large portion of these do not live, but the number can be staggering. How would one provide for 10 little Yamames? 50? 100? 1,000?
