The former extracts tso files from hardsaves. While the latter accepts tdcgpose files (not tdcgsav) and scales the bones according to your currently selected proportions.

Okay, so the wiki wasn't clear enough.

Yesterday I installed 3dcg (I used the jp torrent) and updated it to xp3 uncensored. I tested each different version to make sure everything worked. But when I got to xp3 uncensored when I started the program it turned my webcam on. I checked wire shark and there may have been some suspicious packets going out. Anyways has anyone had similar experiences?

This has been happening a lot to me lately. For some reason, MMD just suddenly decides that it can't remember what models to load on certain .pmm files. And even if I remember which models they were, most of the time it just crashes. Why does this happen?

Making mods is basically: make model in any modeling application, convert to mqo, spend 5 minutes preparing the folder, stuff into tso2mqo and then possibly tweak the weights.
Out of these, only making the model itself and dealing with the weights is time consuming.

I literally do not understand anything about the bones and helpers and hierarchy and stuff. I'm pretty sure I'm using tsotomqo completely wrong, as well, but I can't find any proper tutorials for it.

I don't know how to use metasequoia properly either, I've tried exporting as obj, putting into max, making a tiny change to an object to see if it works, exporting back to mqo etc and no luck - that was using tsotomqo (I was pretty much guessing on that though since I don't read moon). It was telling me there was something wrong with the textures or something, but I didn't know what I'd done wrong or what it wanted so I just gave up.

I've used max for years and trying to use metaseq is a nightmare now. It would take me weeks to understand the basics and I would keep looking for tools that don't exist.

Tried using some .x file exporter/importer for max 2013, but I think it's broken because even importing a file and exporting it without changing anything gives me errors when I try to recompile it into a tso with tsodecrypt. Export options, too - I don't know what it wants in that regard.

It's just been a massive fucking headache and I feel completely lost. I've been relying on trial and error and it's really not working; short of someone holding my hand from start to finish I don't think I'm going to get anywhere.

Don't actually use meta for modeling, it's pretty limited. Instead, get a mqo exporter plugin for 3dsmax and export into mqo from there. You should only use meta to clean up the list of materials.
Figuring out how to prepare the folder for tso2mqo can be annoying, and it likes throwing out errors if you get anything wrong.

I could try to write a guide for you. I guess I'll post a pastebin or something.

Tso to mqo is just drag and drop, but when I'm doing it the other way round I'm not sure which paths I need to point it to and which buttons to press. I grabbed a mqo plugin, and exporting with bones seems to crash my max. I tried tweaking a bone-less model and recompiling it with tsotomqo, but it still threw out errors. Feel like I'm getting somewhere, so I'll keep at it.

I'm not sure about using an english tso2mqo, it may be outdated. I always disassemble tso->mqo without bones. I'm not sure how that rokdebone thing works, so try without it. It'll fetch the bones from the "reference tso" automatically when you assemble the mod. The other 2 checkboxes on that 1st tab are for naming the folder and the location, so largely irrelevant.

I just got a new monitor with 2560x1440 resolution. I also have a secondary monitor, so I was hoping to use the seperate window feature to look at the animation frames on one, and the camera view on the other. But for some reason, whenever I load several effects, it progressively gets more and more laggy, especially if I load autoluminous. It'll drop down to 3fps with physics on sometimes. There's nothing wrong with my drivers or graphics card either, it runs games very well on high settings.

The leg IK bones are placed at the maximum stretch distance from the legs. They are aligned with the feet. If you move them further away from the legs, feet movement may become unpredictable.

In particular, the problem you are describing results when the leg IK bones move across this limit. So, check to make sure the IK bones aren't too far from the leg bones.

It can also result in the overall rotation of the bones in the IK chain being too extreme. For example, if you rotate the leg bone 360 degrees manually, you will see the feet do quick rotations one or two times. The center, lower body, leg, knee, and ankle/foot bones all affect feet movement, so check that your animation isn't going beyond this.

But, ultimately, you may need to upload the VMD file if you want help.

A tip, if you are experiencing unwanted feet movement it can help to copy the movement of the lower body bone, paste it onto the leg, knee, or feet bones, and multiply the rotation movement by a negative number to cancel the movement of the lower body bone.

I actually downloaded MSI afterburner to figure out if it was a hardware issue with my GPU or not. When I dropped down to 3fps, the GPU usage barely fluxuated at all. There weren't any significant spikes on any of the performance charts. The only thing that helped me, was not maximizing the animation window on my primary monitor. For some reason or another, that was causing the occasional drop in fps.

Directory? There's only one directory.
Tso or tah? While all models within the game are tsos, the game takes only accepts tah files as mods, because it needs to know where to put them on the list and which icons to use.
If you want to use a tso you have on hand you can either inject it into a hardsave using a utility or put it into a proper tah file, with a proper icon and a proper tbn file pointing to said tso so the game could find it.

I found how to turn them into usable tah files, but I don't know which files I should use, as the mods supposely countains 3 differents models, and the folders' names aren't displayed properly on my computer. You can preview tso files with tsoview (XPC03724).
I think these are supposed to be male mods.
Readme's instructions say: get TAHdecGUI.exe (XPC00198.zip), run it, drag and drop one of the folders into it, set "tah ver" to 5 or more, click 「tahに梱包」, put the new tah into the arcs directory.
Since these are male mods, you can only use one at a time.

Those folders which contain 3 files replace semen somehow. I guess it's meant to be that way, or maybe the dude who made the mod forgot to take them out.

A lot of the mod files will have conflicting IDs, so you'll end up with some stuff not appearing, and other stuff appearing at the end of unrelated items. Also, it will take several minutes for the program to load each time with that many mods installed.

I've switched to MMM now. Recent updates to shaders made it good enough for me. Effects are not as good looking as in MMD+MME, but MMM makes it so much easier to get anything done...

My process: 3DCG -> tso2pmx with a ton of custom facial poses -> model edits in PMDeditor (including making back faces visible on shirts and using that mod that adds arm IK) -> texture edits -> MMM -> 3 oversampled layered renders per pose (adultshader 30%, front light 60%, back light 100%) -> Fix any clipping in photoshop -> overlay 20% 3px smart blur, 20% 5px gaussian blur, 15% 30px gaussian blur, 50% opacity 3% density monochrome gaussian noise -> downscale -> 3 HOURS LATER, MASTURBATE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS -> never bother to share the results anywhere because the copyright drama-loving "community" is shit.

It's not a huge upgrade, and converting models is a multi-step pain, but it's still definitely an upgrade.

There's something I don't understand with MMD.
You can configure physical operation so that they're active anytime, and then you can turn them off in order to record the bones, in order to save some RAM during the real recording.

However, for some reason, it only works with some models, and I don't understand why.

I never actually tried using this mod because its expressions are unchangeable. But I looked inside and it's composed of the body + various parts that you can swap.
Scroll down the list of items within this body's icon and you'll probably find parts like eyes and breasts.
