Lovely Cation 2 perhaps? At least it dubs itself one but what I played it was just "get skill X to level Y (or buy items A and B) by story event Z" rather than regular stat leveling, schedule making or any that sort of stuff. Miss a scene? Reload and replay with a walkthrough. No free mode or anything similar.

At least the heroines were really adorable so guess I shouldn't be complaining.

>>11200528
>love plus?
Way too much grinding. Even after getting to proper 'dating' part you actually see even less heroine interaction than before. After each date all your stats reset back to zero and you have to grind one or two in-game weeks to get them back up. The dates themselves are very short, extremely similar to each other and the touch screen gimmick gets boring very quickly.

In real time mode you're limited to one "planned date" a week, plus one shorter date each day. You don't have to personally grind for the stats, but on the other hand the game pretty much tells you to not god damn play it.

I don't really understand how it ever got popular in the first place.

Forgot to mention Kanotsuku2. Came out quite a while ago but the latest add-on got released this January.

It doesn't have much in terms of ichaicha or any characterization since it's 'customize your own girlfriend' type of nukige similar to their earlier titles, but contains pleeeeenty of optional NTR, SM and other cool fetishes if you're into those. From other people's comments back then it seems many of the events play out quite differently depending on your girl's current state, f.ex. there's one NTR scene during the park date where she gets fingered and licked by another couple if she's a virgin, and if not apparently she gets fucked in the ass. Imagine all the replay value!
Played it during initial release and planning to give it another proper playthrough some day since they added lots of new stuff, including onee-san personality / voice.

For the downsides the soundtrack is pretty bad and graphics are also a bit ehhh but I assume that sort of comes with the gigantic amount of different scenes drawn with different clothing.
I really wish Kiss made a new dating sim similar to Kanotsuku 2, but using their CM3D engine instead. That game looked pretty darn gorgeous for 3D and was also surprisingly well optimized.

The first game is better. That was actually a waifu simulator.
2 is just a glorified H-scene simulator.

I really like how in the first game you started from strangers to friends to finally lovers (or sexfriends if you messed up). And this happens within a span of 6 months in-game. Meanwhile in 2 you fuck the custom heroine on the first day(!) of meeting her.

Also the various customization options actually affect the heroine's personality in 1. For instance if you put morning in her dislikes option, she tends to get late during dates. If you put rain, she'll complain and/or not come if its raining. If you messed up the sim city part, ruffians can butt in and ruin your date. The second game lack this altogether.

Finally, you have a group of friends in the first game. You hang out together on weekends and stuff, and they also have mini events focused on them. Compare that to the second game where it's literally just you and the heroine.

These things adds together and make the game world actually feel alive. In this respect, Custom Reido 4 feels more of an actual sequel of Kanotsuku than Kanotsuku 2.

>> No.11201045

>>11200918
That sounds pretty rad.
I actually had Custom Reido 4 on my PC months ago before losing everything to hard drive wipe and didn't get to play it yet. Might redownload it and Kanotsuku1 while I'm at it.

>Finally, you have a group of friends in the first game. You hang out together on weekends and stuff, and they also have mini events focused on them. Compare that to the second game where it's literally just you and the heroine.
This was actually also one of my peeves. Seeing as the protagonist often hung around the love club members but the girlfriend didn't really interact with any of the other characters before really late I jokingly made up a story in my head about how she's actually the protagonist's hallucination of his dead childhood friend and the other characters are just playing along in order not to upset him.

Finished Haruka ni Aogi, Shino's route was fantastic and I really liked how it handled Tsukasa compared to the other routes.
The epilogue and the song in it were god-tier, almost cried during it.
The game all in all was really good, even if a couple of the routes were quite weak. My only complaint is that, considering the length, it needed a bigger OST, there were like 20 tracks and the game is quite huge, but that's it for negatives.

Now back to daitoshokan or KKK sidestories I guess.

Haven't touched the other two, but Saihate no IMA has the most incomprehensible mind screws I've come across in VNs to this day. The pacing is a bit odd and the amount of infodump towards the end would make both Infinity series and Muv-Luv's writers blush, but the actual plot is top notch. Finished Fata Morgana no Yakata, thought I'd add my two cents even if I don't do this very often and hadler's rec was pretty spot on already
The scope of the scenario was pretty amazing, I really liked the story composition, how it unfolded and picked things back up into the conclusion. It also did some nifty things with meta details like the backlog and choices in some places.
Sometimes the pace did feel pretty off, like too many flashbacks back to back slowing down things or events happening a bit too fast for plot convenience, but it kept my drive to read along alive pretty much throughout. The writing itself was kinda weird in some places, like when it tries to be funny with a modern kind of humor in a story otherwise pretty atmospheric, heavy and dramatic (it's not like it didn't work, but felt pretty unnatural), but I appreciated how it didn't try to be verbose for the sake of it and kept the style to the point for the most part. Soundtrack was pretty cool and very atmospheric. Art seems very hit or miss and might be straight ugly for some people but I warmed up to it pretty soon.
Even if the downsides end up weighting more for you I'd say all in all it's a fucking steal for its price, if you like stories about love, kindness, hatred, tragedy, and the ugliness and beauty of human nature you might want to try this

The other ending doesn't really add anything worthwhile apart from few CGs. Acta Est Fabula
That ending also fits better with the theme of the route since Rea's route was all about Mercurius' "stage" breaking little by little shown by characters like Rusalka/Wilhelm/Valeria/Wolfang all getting over their curse and culminating with Ren who was supposed to be the main character of the play but who decide to get off the stage.

Strange that they didn't decide to just somehow mix AeF and AA endings together since they're essentially the same, save for how the final battle actually plays out. Marie even hints about fixing the world in a way that Rea and Ren get to meet again during this scene, an event that only gets shown in the extended AA ending.

Confusing for players like me and >>11210948 who were going through AA release first, especially since the other choice seems like the obvious "wrong one".

>>11211055

Does it have anything plot related or is it just an extended happy ending? Never read any of the AA extras but hopping back and forth between it and KKK (which I'm also reading for the first time right now) breaks the flow, plus my head.

Am I the only one who think that Danganronpa is hugely overrated? The characters are too forced and it might be a good thing if it was a comedy, but I can't remember even a moment where I might think "yep, that was fun", so they fall flat in story to the point where I hate them. Even writing is kinda childish, looks like a 999 for little kids. And I'm not praising 999, it's overrated too but at least that one tried to be good. All my friends compare Danganronpa with PW and say how much better D is, but I still can't understand how can that middle schooler's fanfic be even close to shu takumi's writing.
