Vocabulary, absolutely. Vocabulary + grammar -> kana -> kanji would probably be the most logical order. If you try to learn kanji without knowing the vocabulary, it'll just be a tough, demotivating battle when you try to learn the kanji, its meaning and the pronunciation at the same time, and you'll take a long while to be at the level where you can enjoy 46/48 TV and radio shows. Unless you either know Chinese already or you are the language genius of the century, I think that'd be torturously impractical at best and impossible at worst.

Meanwhile, if you learn from the vocabulary, you can already start enjoying songs, variety, radio shows etc., and you'll learn kanji much faster when you can focus on linking the letters with pronunciations and meanings you already know instead of trying to learn and link the letter, often several pronunciations and the meaning at the same time. Trying to learn several things at the same time is cognitively much more taxing, and as said it'll also take more time before you can start enjoying the fruits of your effort, so I wouldn't recommend it.

When you understand spoken Japanese, it's actually quite easy to start learning kanji, and these days you have a lot of tools to help you with kanji in digital reading too (things like Rikaichan or text hookers with kanji dictionaries) so you can actually already start reading some text as long as you can handle vocabulary and grammar, the latter of which is extremely simple in Japanese.

True, that'd probably be a good idea. It's important to know the letters and thus the limits of the language, so you can avoid stupid mistakes in vocabulary learning (things like kekna instead of kenka, stuff like that). If you actually know kana really well you'll actually learn the vocabulary faster: to continue with the kenka example, instead of learning 5 letters you'll just need to remember 3, which facilitates memorising significantly.

To read japanese, you need to learn kanji. Let's Learn Japanese doesn't really care much about that - it's a conversational course.

So watching it will help you understand TV and radio shows, but you'll need a much bigger effort to understand VNs and blogs, due to that cruel little invention called kanji.

Depending on whose blogs you're reading, I'd imagine the difficulty might change dramatically. Some girls seem to write simpler, shorter posts, but then others write like 1000 word posts at times.

Just learn the grammar, kana, and some vocab, and then attempt to read their posts. Every time you come across a word or kanji you don't know (which will be very often early on), throw that word into a flashcard program like Anki or something, and memorise it. Eventually you will be a pro.

There isn't a significant difference between a child and an adult in being able to memorise things. I'm an adult. It only took me a couple hours to memorise the kana. I understand not every body learns at the same pace, but it is just memorisation of shapes. You sit there and grind it long enough, and you will remember them. There are only about 100 characters you have to memorise, they are all simple shapes, and most look distinct from one another. There is no reason it should take multiple weeks to memorise that information, unless you are only doing it for short periods of time a day.

I find her pretty interesting, and her MC skills are pretty strong. I can't think of another member (bar possibly Takamina) that could show off the HKT girls so well in their shows.
I don't think her hetare character has a counterpart in the West (or other Asian countries, but I can't be accurate on that) so maybe she just has something that's much more appealing to Japanese. Like how certain members tend to be more popular on Western boards, especially direct types like Sayaka or Shimada.
As for why they forgave her scandal, I think that being a KKS while it happened, and her dealing with it exceptionally well (apologising, getting ribbed about it on variety without losing her temper) meant that it wasn't as big a deal. The way she appears to genuinely care for the HKT members helps too, it feels like she's really grown up after her scandal.

Magical Radio and Geinin are both good if you like scripted comedy. And Bimyo, well, I'd say most episodes had about one good skit. All I really remember are Yokoyama Yuizo/Honmayan/Golgo Jurina.

ItteKoi48 is SKE's best variety show. NMB hasn't really had a good one yet.

Nemousu is good but highly variable in quality depending on the premise of the episode and girls involved. It's the kind of thing you might want to skim first to decide whether to watch or not. Don't forget the specials.

Early AKB to XX episodes had a lot of the popular girls and is worth a look.
