It seems like there are 2 particularly important titles at AX that MangaGamer has. Doddler has twice indicated two of the titles in particular at AX at least for MG

The only reason to actually go to AX is the dealers room. It's kind of pointless to go to panels since all it does is get you news about something 5 seconds earlier than the rest of the internet does.

It depends on the panels. Comi-Cons generally I've found have better panels (at least more varied) than Anime Cons, though. I went and saw the artist and writer of Metalocalypse, ATHF, and Venture Bros. at Phoenix Comi-Con.

That's just my experience though. I don't have a lot of experience with Anime Cons

In the panel room, the panel before MangaGamer is "Industry Guest:Toshio Maeda". Probably not bad for MG to have him go before them, should get some people to hang around afterwords for the MG panel who otherwise wouldn't go.

They did terribly at launch and it's clearly been proven, there is actually no way they won any sales AT THE TIME and any post deadline sales has been an over time success that doesn't cover up the flaws of their launch.

I really shouldn't be giving out numbers, but basically, Kara no Shoujo broke around 700 sales earlier this year. It had an abysmal launch, which is understandable given how much they screwed it up, but it recovered well with a decent long tail of sales. I'd have a hard time calling it a 'success' in any real form, but that still puts it in... 5th place for overall digital sales for all MG's products, sad as that may be.

It doesn't surprise me that no one is excited about the Hentai Industries games. They're short, simple fetish games that probably will sell for $5-$8. We honestly aren't looking for more nukige like that, but they're a bit unique in that the company actually approached MG about localizing them, covering the costs of localization. For MG, that's obviously not a bad deal. Doesn't help the reputation at all though.

For Lilith, we actually planned on doing Asagi series first, but Lilith didn't want to commit their top title to MG yet, wanting to see how it goes first with other stuff. They specifically offered those 3 titles to us to see how things went.

The all ages titles on sale at MG have usually been pretty low, but Kira Kira's all ages digital version did particularly bad. It still beats most of the OELVN's but it's the lowest selling of all MG's own titles. Oddly, the hard copy of All Ages Kira Kira didn't do that badly. Konosora probably sells well to the con crowd as well.

Not odd at all. All Ages Kira Kira was released ages after the original, digital download only, at almost the same price as original Kira Kira. Everybody interested in a digital download already bought the original ages before it, or would otherwise likely pay the 5 or so extra bucks to get the original version.

The hardcopy, on the other hand, is a hardcopy and will sell like a hardcopy. There's nothing wrong with all-ages Kira Kira, it's just that the download version was released in a way that guaranteed failure.

Converting an Eroge to an All-Ages VN in an effort to market VN is a terrible idea. Why would MoeNavel go through the effort of butchering the novel's story getting rid of the kiss/sex CG and the jokes just to get the ESRB rating on it? That's a strategy for failure if you ask me.

Besides, VNs don't have access to the mass US retail market. Even if they were to produce non-eroge VN, most retailers would refuse to carry it. In fact, you'll only be able to buy this from the same online, Jpop-centric retailers that can be used to purchase Adult-content.

Plus, most kids/tweens won't be able to purchase the butchered/all-ages VN online since debit/credit card purchases are limited to adults.

As beautiful as "If My Heart Had Wings" was, its waste that it was presented like this. MoeNavel should have listened to some feedback from Western VN fans before they localize their games here...
