imo, considering what >>11090033 said, many japanese IRL already have many jagged teeth. Then some mangaka derived it to their works and fabricate it with cute, wild and energetic character. Then it comes out as trend IRL after that manga became a big hit in the market as the demand in cute character with fangs is quite high.

Because having perfectly white, straight teeth isn't actually a sign of good dental hygiene and only very superficial cultures could possibly think it is.
