So what's different in your Touhou headcanon?

Or, if that question is too annoying to you, what would you change about Touhou if you could?

Have ZUN improve his art so much that you can tell which Touhous are adults and which are supposed to be children so the pedofags and ultratits crews will shut up.

The only time that I ever wanted to change something in Touhou was when Rin lacked tails.

Well, now I'm in the clear. Mwahaha. Learn to accept the real Gensokyo, "headcanon" secondaries.

I don't really have anything that's "different", all my "headcanons" are about things that ZUN hasn't really elaborated on or are generally up to debate.

Or well, to be picky; I always thought it was strange that Ran supposedly is shorter than Yukari

But that's it

Headcanon is probably the dumbest word the western Touhou fandom has picked up in quite a while.

Your beloved Orin is full of fleas in canon.

Anyway, I don't even understand how headcanon works. For example I don't like canon Koishi (especially they way she was described in SoPM/HM). At the same I find Koishi in KKHTA really cool and interesting. Does it mean that she is completely insane in my "headcanon"? Well... I also love pervy and naughty Koishi (eromame's works are the best example). And the Koishi in my pic. There are lots of Koishis I like. They all are different, but they are not "mindless pebble on the road".

>> No.11039286

The only thing I have is that Koishi is very heavy even though she's small.

>> No.11039291

>>11039269
"Headcanon" is "what you think actually happened in the 'real' Gensokyo."

You may like liebe Koishi, but if you don't think that's an accurate representation of canon, then it doesn't count.

Here is usefull summary for Headcanon in Touhou.

Basicly headcanon means "speculations about a story that kinda make sense but it's never stated in the story itself".

In the western touhou fandom it is mostly used as "This is how Gensokyo looks like in MY head and in MY personal canon and you are not allowed to critisize me because it's MY canon. Also who cares what ZUN says anyways? WE the fandom are what make touhou good so I am free to do whatever I want with the characters"

Make it so the spellcard rules aren't stupid. Why would the youkai adhere to it? Unless I'm missing something, they have nothing to gain from it.

>>11039069
I'd at least like ZUN to clarify.

>> No.11039385

>>11039372
If they don't, Reimu would seriously have to kill them. Youkai also want to live.

Also, Rinnosuke said something about a "balance" of youkai and humanity in Gensokyo, although I'm not sure if he can be considered trustworthy.

>> No.11039414

>>11039385
Youkai disapear if they are forgotten.

According to perfect memento, the spell card rules are there as a way for them to keep existing.

They easily create incidents, humans easily solve them and everyone can take it easy together at the end.

>headcanon

>> No.11039524

Too many contradictions with the spell card rules.

In my headcanon, Marisa exterminates youkai because she can, Reimu exterminates youkai because it's her job, and there are no stupid rules for duelling beforehand. They just fight because people in Gensokyo fight through danmaku, and they survive because they're youkai or magic humans. Qualifying that with some "rules" was the worst thing ZUN ever did.

>> No.11039589

>>11039524
It's basic. That way, humans can defend themselves against youkai (Who seem to get more and more "civilized" anyway).
They are also just fitting for Reimu, who doesn't really differentiate between human and youkai, although she claims to do so.

>> No.11039609

>>11039524
ZUN himself doesn't even try to justify it anymore. New character just use spellcards because the plot says they do, even if by all logic they shouldn't even know anything about spellcard rules.

There's a lot different (I would even say wrong) with the way I view Gensokyo and its inhabitants. I try to make it a point when discussing canon not to rely on my own views, since they're so twisted.

For instance, take Yuuka, here. I have a hypothesis that she's akin to a gatekeeper between the real world and the dream world. Gensokyo itself is already close to that line, thus it makes sense for Yuuka's land to be connected via cave; Mugenkan rests on the threshold between the sea of chaos that is the dream world and everything else.

It helps explain why the places in LLS are so bizarre; there's less reality and reliance on anything resembling rules there.

Of course it's complete bullshit, but it's still fun to think about.

I don't know about changing the Touhou lore, since I mostly like it. But the games could use some more variety. Imperishable Night experimented with some creative mechanics, and it had the whole alternative ending thing. You don't need to have 6 stages every time, you don't need for them to have such predictable progression. Surprise us again once in a while, ZUN-sama.

Also, it's annoying how the dialogue in the first three stages is just pointless chatter.

>> No.11044529

>>11044032
It's true that the dialogue in the first three stages doesn't have anything to do with the plot most of the time, but I find the sometimes bizarre conversations in especially early games to be very charming.

Headcanon sounds retarded, why don't you refer to it as 'your version of Gensokyo' or blacktewi if you really want to shorten it and alienate those who are common with the "Neko Scarlet"-tier term.

It needs development, but it's full of odd people from all over the planet. Mythical places, creatures, and the people who believed in them. And sometimes just ordinary folk fall into Gensokyo over it's history, and made it their home.

Couldn't Youkai just visit humans to keep existing? Or is belief not the same thing as knowing in this case?

>> No.11049811

The reason nobody in Gensokyo ever sees any Touhou project works or derivative works is because the series takes place in the future after ZUN brutally murders every secondary and tertiary, tracks down and destroys all evidence of the series, and makes a deal with all true primaries to never speak of the project again but to get to be the little girl in exchange.
