I visited a maid cafe in Akihabara recently. It's too expensive for what it is, but if you're into that kind of thing go for it. I don't see how an American maid cafe can compare to one in Japan, though. Those people are wild.

I went to Reni's maid cafe last year by myself. It was fun.

Reni sings a few songs, and there were a few maids focused on serving food and drinks. But, essentially, it was a cosplay meetup. There were lots of girls doing coordinated dances. Lots of posing for pictures. Most the people knew most of the people from other events, like NYCC, etc.

Apple Kissa maid cafe is more "authentic" maid cafe, I think.

Anyway: just go, it won't blow your mind, but you won't be the only person there by themself.

It's sad that we can't get an authentic maid cafe experience outside of Japan. Not even in NY where there are actual Japanese people.

I watched a stream of Reni's Maid Cafe and it looked fun but outside of Reni it also looked extremely unprofessional. When Reni did her performance which was really cute her maid staff looked like shit. One of them didn't have any shoes on,was walking around the place barefoot and got on stage to perform while barefoot.

Also could she not get some of her Japanese friends to work there? I'm not against cute black,white and hispanic girls but please.

Agreed. Akiba maid cafes are a world of their own. Those people are very... different. You will never know what a true maid cafe is unless you visit one in Japan.
