You know, watching anime for the first time has been a sort of culture-shock for me. The post-industrial, metropolitan setting that apparently embodies Tokyo is a long way from my home of swampy plains and spread-out, worn down towns.

Who am I, one might ask? I'm some dumb hick who is nineteen and still a junior in high-school, living in the good ol' U.S. of A. I make a decent dime doing work here and there, but I've never really amounted to all that much.

I'm quite the elephant in the room, though. No one that I know, I think, would ever expect that I watched (and enjoyed) anime (of course I did soin secret taking great care to make sure no one would ever find out), whereas I imagine that the physical and social appearance of some of you may reflect your interests a bit better.

I like the U.S. pretty well. It's pretty easy to practice simple living here, which is something that my family has instilled in me since day one as well as something that brings me great relief. But I see now that there is a world beyond. I've done some further reading on Japan.

I get this funny feeling every now and again that I might actually enjoy living in a big city like Tokyo. It seems like it fits the bill, at least to a degree, of simple living. Not to mention the fact that anime is more accepted and much easier to acquire.

Thanks for reading, and thank you all for helping me find a new dream to dream.

Japan is a workaholic shithole. Unless you want to work from like 8am to 8pm 6 days a week while dealing with subtle racism directed against you, you would probably do better to just move to a city in the northern U.S.

I feel you.

What do the Japaneese think of yankees? What do the Japaneese think of rednecks?

You'd probably think I have one, too.

It's normal in this neck of the woods but I usually understand it when people comment.

You probably won't be able to get into Japan. Even their shitty English teacher program requires a BA.

I'm afraid not.

I'm wearing athletic shorts and a t-shirt. I pretty much wear clothes like this always unless I'm at school or I'm going somewhere important.

I'm not a disgusting mountain-man, either. I shower twice daily and I wash my clothes after a hard day's work, mind you.
