Which 2hu has the saddest/darkest backstory?
I personally think it's Koishi, but what does /jp/ think?

>> No.10992317

Parsee or maybe Byakuren. However the latter is better off now so it's not sad.

If it's true that Kisume is youkai born from a child that was dropped into a well by her mother, that is quite dark.

Also Parsee and Koishi. Medicine has sad backround too, but her life got slightly better in the end of PoFV.

Byakuren, Yuyuko, Parsee, Koishi, Satori, and Hina are probably the strongest contenders imo

>> No.10992424

I'd have to say Koishi, because she actually lost something, even if she's not particularly unhappy about it now.

Stories of all the other youkai might have started up sad, but in the end they all ended up with cool abilities, indestructible bodies and (most of them) lots of friends, so it's okay, all's well that ends well.

Only one ever on the planet

Nothing like any of her Masters

Hated and held aloof by pretty much everyone other than Eientei despite how acceping they are of youkai in the human village.

It's post-elixir consumption where things become dark as fuck, as for 600 years after, she is either hiding in isolation or killing anything and anyone she sees. Logic indicates at the time she had completely lost her grip on sanity.

On top of that, she is constantly being murder and assassinated by Kaguya (Gensokyo's supreme ultra bitch) for at least 300 years and counting.

Mokou has never enjoyed her immortality, and is probably the most desolate person is Gensokyo.

The only reason she can function at all is 1200+ years of being able to come to terms with what she is.

She even gave the Hourai Elixir out of pity to an Emperor, though he didn't want it because he didn't want to live forever without Kaguya, so he tried to destroy it, if only it wasn't for Mokou who killed the leader of his squad in charge of destroying the elixir.

Kaugya isn't that of a bitch, at first she was, like every Lunarian that thinks about the Earth being a place for losers, then thanks to human contact she gets friendly and more open.
Also at the end Mokou doesn't really hate Kaguya anymore, just read the part where she learns about the possibility of Kaguya returning home, she was a bit sad and tried to confirm things about that.

>> No.10992582

Although hers might not be the saddest, I always thought Tojiko probably had a pretty shit life. She was betrayed/used by everyone she trusted and was locked in a hole for 1400 years.

No wonder she became and evil spirit. She might have done her fair share of bad deeds in life though, since the Soga clan weren't exactly the cuddliest, killing other clan members like it's no big deal and all.

>The terror of immortality is eternal solitude. An endless reality tormented by the consciousness of one's sins. The only one who could sympathize with that was my old immortal enemy. I was afraid that she would no longer be at Eientei. I remembered when I heard she had first returned to the moon 1300 years ago. That's why I felt uneasy when I heard about the vampire trying to get to the moon. [...]It was one more way for people from Earth to go to the moon or rather, for Lunarians to return to the moon. In the distance I saw the lights of Eientei. Seeing them made me feel a bit more at ease. [...]In other words, what I should have been worried about was whether the fact that someone had come up with a way to get to the moon meant that Kaguya was going to go back.

>Just what would have happened if I'd gone to dispose of the elixir of immortality in that mountain, just like Sakuyahime said? I probably would have concluded my short life without having spent so much time consumed by my own sins. I probably would've ended my miserable life consumed by my grudge for Kaguya. But, I definitely wouldn't have lived to see these days, over thirteen hundred years later. And that means that another immortal human would have been lonely.

We don't know Mima's backstory.

But we do know that when we first saw her, she was a ghost.

More specifically an evil spirit.

Wearing a tattered sailor uniform and carrying a big bloody knife.

Sealed in a shrine outbuilding.

Which was in Hell.

And when she got out, she was bent on taking revenge on all humanity.

Even if we don't know and probably will never know her backstory, it has to have been pretty darn bad.

Did you listen to Shikieiki, the cycle repeats because of Gensokyo's traits. The 3 heavenly lights, the 4 seasons and the 5 elements multiplied together are 60. Shikieiki is quite determined with this, which leaves us the implications that Gensokyo may have required, or caused, or perhaps done both, as the second world war. Another 'catastrophe' that we lack details for happens during the events of PoFV. Can Gensokyo just suck up the dead of any current catastrophe, or does it cause it, we can't tell?

However we're still left with the fact that Gensokyo literally blooms because of death.

She believed him wholeheartedly until three workmen burst in and demanded payment for the jeweled branch they had worked on for so long, and so he went away in shame.
