This is shabu shabu, the meat is sliced thinly and served raw, then cooked by dipping in broth just before eating. Also very delicious!

For sushi dining, the fickle /jp/sie is best served by chirashi, which offers a wide pre-selected variety of fish. You get a little of everything, so there's no need to quibble over options. The rice bed seasoning is wonderful, and the serving size is big enough for a dinner.

I went to Yoshinoya a while ago; you know, Yoshinoya?
Well anyways there was an insane number of people there, and I couldn't get in.
Then, I looked at the banner hanging from the ceiling, and it had "150 yen off" written on it.
Oh, the stupidity. Those idiots.
You, don't come to Yoshinoya just because it's 150 yen off, fool.
It's only 150 yen, 1-5-0 YEN for crying out loud.
There're even entire families here. Family of 4, all out for some Yoshinoya, huh? How fucking nice.
"Alright, daddy's gonna order the extra-large." God I can't bear to watch.
You people, I'll give you 150 yen if you get out of those seats.
Yosinoya should be a bloody place.
That tense atmosphere, where two guys on opposite sides of the U-shaped table can start a fight at any time,
the stab-or-be-stabbed mentality, that's what's great about this place.
Women and children should screw off and stay home.
Anyways, I was about to start eating, and then the bastard beside me goes "extra-large, with extra sauce."
Who in the world orders extra sauce nowadays, you moron?
I want to ask him, "do you REALLY want to eat it with extra sauce?"
I want to interrogate him. I want to interrogate him for roughly an hour.
Are you sure you don't just want to try saying "extra sauce"?
Coming from a Yoshinoya veteran such as myself, the latest trend among us vets is this, extra green onion.
That's right, extra green onion. This is the vet's way of eating.
Extra green onion means more green onion than sauce. But on the other hand the price is a tad higher. This is the key.
And then, it's delicious. This is unbeatable.
However, if you order this then there is danger that you'll be marked by the employees from next time on; it's a double-edged sword.
I can't recommend it to amateurs.

Parasites are mostly a problem in freshwater fish, like salmon. In Japan, they pretty much only use ocean fish in sashimi/sushi. Salmon, which is only commonly used outside of Japan, can be rendered safe by freezing it for a couple of weeks. I usually avoid salmon, though, more because it's not particularly authentic than because of parasites.

I doubt that. They might get a little sick because they aren't used to it, but humans have eaten cooked food since the discovery of fire. As far as I know, fish is safer to eat raw, most "raw" meats are chemically cooked in lime juice and whatnot.

>>10996324
>I'm almost positive all that raw seafood is frozen to kill pathogens even in Japan.
It depends on how fresh it is. I watched a documentary about a sushi restaurant and they get the fresh catch every morning and use it for the whole day.

>>10996336
> isn't it weird how the Japanese won't eat fruit skin because they're scared of pesticides, but will eat whatever tentacle-ridden infernal beast they drag out of the ocean.
To be fair, pesticides are poisons. I would be wary of consuming anything that is designed to kill other things. I do think the worry is overblown though, even here in America.

>> No.10996394

I don't know. I mean, I know pesticides and other things are harmless to humans, but that stuff doesn't leave your body, its stored in your fat. Then, if you're a women, you pass it down to your baby because pesticides make their way in to the breast milk. I know its harmless, but it just feels wrong. Many people worry about them being bombarded with radiation to sterilise, but all's it is UV, and we get more exposure to that from the giant nuclear fusion orb in our sky. The only thing I worry about is that the bacteria will become resistant.

Also, I can say always at least wash your fruit and veg. I pack that stuff, and I can tell you even here in Britain we follow the health and safety guidelines very loosely. I seen people sneeze and go back to touching the food, sweat on it, drop it on the floor and put it back on the belt ect.

It mostly depends on the quality of the meat. Generally if you can be sure the animal had no diseases or parasites then it's fine, it's just that most mass produced meat is produced in filthy conditions so it's not as safe as it could be. Meat that is intended to be eaten raw is produced under more strict standards to try to minimize the risk, and they buy it as such. Same goes for fish or whatever. It's not the same as the fish or meat you'd just buy off the shelf to use in cooked food.
