Dunno, really. Maybe it could be part of the 'economy' section of an MMO - ie, products farmers produce are refined into stage-1 food products, which are then arranged into stage-2 food products (meals/individual food items) and sold to satisfy some need of the players' (buffs, health, stats, whatever.)

I feel like the current game development community isn't taking proper advantage of the amazing opportunities which have only just arisen at this point in time. There's so many amazing games waiting to be made, but companies choose to squirt out Madden and Call of Duty sequels every year instead.
