Moeka was kind of lame.

They obviously wanted her to fit the 'timid, socially awkward girl' archetype, thus her gimmick (talking exclusively via text.) But there was a conflict where they also seemed to be afraid that she wouldn't be expressive enough, so they overcompensated, and she ended up being the exact opposite of timid.
