Thanks for the info. I'm on Linux and as Shift-JIS is a Windows only encoding, I had to patch the old unzip binary with a patch a cool Japanese guy made to make it work.

It seems the ZIP specification doesn't record any codepage info so it just encodes it with the system codepage; conversely, you can't know what codepage it was encoded in when extracting. Well it's an old format so can't blame.

It's a pain in the ass, but you can rename split archives and include instructions on how to put them together if you're using Mediafire. That way they don't know you're upload split archives and won't delete them, and you can get around the 200mb limit.

If you use MF upload .7z archives instead of .rar or .zip and use stupid filenames.

I agree with this. I'm especially fond of albums that mix both hyperactive peaks with denpa and calmer lows with soft music, like a roller coaster.

Not the guy you're responding to, but if you want the highest possibly quality you'd have to rip the CD's using something like Exact Audio Copy and then convert them into v0 using something like dBpoweramp. I think the CD ripper on dBpoweramp will allow you to rip directly to MP3, but I'm not at all certain since I've never actually used it.

If you want guides on how to use these I can share what.cd's step by step guide on how to rip and then convert using those two programs.

You can use foobar2000 to encode audio files too. It'd probably be a lot easier to use that since you wouldn't have to buy or search for a crack for dbpoweramp. The quality would be the same too since in the end you're just using Lame if you're encoding to mp3.

I tagged these manually, but as people suggested here, I use EAC to rip and LAME to convert to MP3; foobar2000 works very well for converting and tagging. It should keep the tags.

OP, if you use foobar to play music with using foobar with lame for conversion will be what's easiest for you. If you don't use foobar, you may still want to just use it for conversion. If you don't like foobar use dBpoweramp. I don't feel like copying the guide for dBpoweramp from what because it's also long like the EAC setup one. dBpoweramp does use Lame for conversion just like foobar does though, it's pretty much just the interface that changes.

If you are reading this RTL, I'm not sure if those were my rips in your folder, but please feel free to add/replace them in your folder. I had to go through a proxy service to get these albums. I just took the first site I found on google and rolled with it. I may take waha's suggestions on sites on the next shipment.
Prices vary depending on what stores you have your proxy go to. All my albums came from Toranoana, which doesn't do international shipping. There are other websites, but follow the links on Denpa no Sekai's blog for locations to buy the albums online.
Apart from the initial cost of the CD's, I ended up paying around $45 USD for shipping, and the cost of the service. Considering I got all my CD's in 5 days from initial contact with the proxy service, I honestly thought it was a steal.
For payments, I think a lot of proxies accept paypal and credit cards so it shouldn't be an issue.

I don't think it'd translate well, but it's 60 cents, 3 songs. That's expensive here as most games are 20 cents, although most rhythm games are now 40 cents.

Nowadays I play occasionally, its been at least a month since I last went went to the arcade. Even when I do go to the arcade I'm usually either playing Taiko 14 or Street Fighter. Only KOC I have at home are the shitty ones that came when Beatmania released in the U.S. They get the job done but can be quite inaccurate at times when I play IIDX Happy Sky on my ps2. I would eventually like to invest into one of these:

Oh goodness yes. I initially got into Taiko because I played Wonder Momoi on the psp version of the game (1st game i think). I've played maybe half of the songs you listed but hands down my favorite song is:

Taiko was brought into my local arcades probably 1-2 years ago, in which point I lost my shit as I was finally able to play an authentic machine. The taiko bachi are quite heavy on the arcades compared to the plastic ones with the ps2 controller. I'd die out pretty quickly on an 8 difficulty song on Oni. I don't play nearly enough to justify purchasing authentic taiko bachi.

Not who you've been replying to, but I figured I'd chip in with some knowledge. There's a torrent of Tricoro out on Share (yes, a torrent on a p2p network. I'm somewhat baffled too) but I can confirm it's legitimate. There's no tracker and it relies on DHT but I got Tricoro from it. I run it fine on a rather low-end system (older nvidia card and a dual core CPU). Out of respect for the sites, I won't mention them by name, but you can find the latest cracks floating around the web for eAmuse along with setup guides. Additionally, it's not sows. You will have to register for a forum account somewhere along the way, though.

As for the game itself, TT lag and sync issues are much improved from the older days of IIDX HDDs. I can even do the charge scratches fine with my US KOC, which I couldn't do on Sirius due to how it detected the TT . Even then, that was much improved from what I was used to in Empress and prior.

All that said, there's no beatfree patch that I know of. Currently you have to unlock everything just like it was at an arcade and I believe it's only on the second stage of the red event so you'll be missing out on a lot of the new Tricoro songs, but you'll still get Niso-hime and more Tano*C/Alstroemeria. I don't mind too much, personally, since having eAmuse emulation is amazing, what with score tracking, ghosts, rivals, and such being supported.

Funta = U + Yoshimi, back in 2002 they did some anime OP/EDs, but after that they started mostly just writing stuff for other people, and U went off to do her solo stuff. Funta-stic is Funta performing the songs they've written for other people. Pretty much. Somewhat. Sorta.
