Besides the uploader, I get a lot of stuff from Pixiv. There's a guy that does some kind of derpy NPC designs but pretty nice item/terrain stuff. Wading through Pixiv is probably preferrable to using other stuff not designed for Elona. The pic is just something I tried to edit the background out of so it was easier to use.

I was using a lot of stuff from Spriters' Resource before, but it makes Elona feel more unique if you get stuff made for it.

I once blitzed the thing by bringing a rod of teleport and scumming until I landed right next to the stairs consecutively. Thankfully, the bosses don't have fire attacks and I so I was able to finish it. Also, bring tons of potions and fireproof blankets if you want to do this.

I haven't tried this yet, but my thought was to try to get at least another hand for another tonfa, since the damage boost is really nice. I think there are only 3 tonfas in the game right now that you can drop, from what I remember. An arm slot for some decorative gloves might help too, since you can hit close to 30 accuracy with some rubynus ones. The only other thing I could imagine would be more ring slots for speed, if you don't use a mount.

If anyone needs help, try getting the bike in noyel and leveling gardening/cooking. The best way to make money is dungeoning, but only if you have a good shop keeper. One of those guild theif members should work. They're only lvl 26.

Has anyone beaten South Tyris without being a pokemon master with fifty billion pets? I gave up like a year ago in Elona+1.09 when I realized that me (fairy Farmer, combat specialty guns) and my pets (crossbow-wielding dog-sister, dual-wielding black-catgirl evolved godpet, heavy tank cat-princess) couldn't even scratch the South Tyris bosses and died almost instantly. I don't really want more than 3 pets, that's plenty as it is.

I did it with only a mount at 248 speed, 300 something when cheered. However I was geared like fuck.

I used rampage, cheer, time stop, then rapid ammo with my super living shotgun. The final boss was trivial.

In 1.09 you definitely can pull up Rods of Wish, it's just very rare, even at my gardening skill. I don't know about the most recent version because I haven't played it.

Elona+ 1.19, vegetables and fruits from farming can now get +modifiers making them exponentially more valuable. Moreso when cooked. Also, stuff grown on the actual farm tiles of farms have increased regrow rate.

Then there's the compost piles. Leave rottable food on a few squares in new farms, and get compost. Sort of like jerky in ranches. Compost is however used to instantly grow plants from one phase to another on farm tiles in farms.

Actually thinking about it, you'd probably farm pure +9 vegetables and fruits.

However, everything you farm probably regrows already.

Create a custom monster with the metal bit and has 'do nothing' on all skill slots. This will allow you to beat it up freely while gaining boat loads of exp depending on the level of the custom NPC you summoned.

Status potential are pretty easy to raise, just get yourself a couple of rank 100 magic shops and buy potential pots from them. Oh and, don't forget to bless them!

As for skill potential, sadly, the easiest way to raise them is to hoard all of your bonus points and spend it only when you're going to train. Though, in 1.19 potential gained through trainers by exchanging pp has been ridiculously buffed, so it's not really that tedious to raise skill potentials by using pp now.

well, thief guild quests are basically you steal X amount for PP, right? you could give a potion of cure corruption to an adventurer, then steal it back, and you fulfil the quest fast.

afterwards you'd have to sell the stolen potion to a shop then buy it back to launder it. considering you also get a bit of gold from completing the quest, you'd be out of pocket, but not too much.

so, basically, gold -> PP.

Even with ~355 speed normally and well over 1k damage per hit overall I'm still not able to beat the regen skill, even when going all out, slowing Meshara and raising my speed up to something well past 600. Guess Time Stop is pretty powerful. I tried to cheese and hope decapitate would kick in but that wouldn't work either.

They should, but herb infused herbs which you already make a lot of still probably wins out.

The value difference between +10 and normal crops is fairly significant though.

Fishing/cooking still wins out in the end though with the super lure. It was never nerfed or anything like that so it's still the fastest mid game gold farming method.

The actual fastest method of farming gold now is doing level 400 dungeons for a million gold a pop. That's super high level stuff though. This is actually how some people here farm gold though.

I don't think they can actually do anything to your plants though. They're just something to keep farmers on their toes.

Also, you really should enchant all your stuff to +10. And wear a shield of some sort, to get non terrible PV. I know you're not PV focused and a fairy, but 95 really is just abysmal.

You get 2 PV/DV per enchant level as well as blessing making for a total of 22 possible extra PV/DV per piece of equipment for 220 extra PV/DV total.

Slowly getting over my irrational hatred of leveling.

Went up two levels in this level 157 dungeon.

The boss was a neutral dominion. I actually missed him totally a few times with burst ammo. Like, he dodged all 9 shots in a row several times. Then he died in two hits from my last burst ammo.

Besides him, the only trouble I really had was with an element dragon on the first floor. Though I skipped most of the floors in this dungeon.

I threw a bunch of cursed bottles of beer until he gets anorexia and kept on throwing more cursed beers until he died of vomiting.

No other game lets you kill the big bad just by throwing beer bottles.

Just enter random dungeons until you find one that begins with you in closed room without any extremely high level monsters around.

Also, rods of teleportation do help. You'll want at least 200 speed though so you can book it if something hazardous appears.

You're going to be handicapped by the fact that you might get slaughtered by stuff you're trying to capture. Getting a good tank monster helps recruiting more powerful stuff. Blood golems are 70s, but are pretty hardy. Recruiting a bell of termination can help too, even if you aren't willing to break the game by using it all the time. It can provide a way to get at the highest level stuff. Nyarlathoteps are among the highest level stuff, and are excellent if you can whittle down their HP enough.

Another thing you might want to think about is your gene engineering level. It's hard to fill out parts on monsters over level 100 since training GE to that level when you're fairly low can take forever. Slave/horse master + bonus points for potential works, but can take a big investment.

How does the AP system work? It seems that me and my pets are only getting AP by killing monsters with higher base speed. This is kind of a problem since my Younger cat sister has higher speed than about everything her level and if we go to dungeons with enemies faster than she we'll get destroyed.

Besides the changelog, I think the japanese wiki says that transfers of game data still work from normal Elona. They recommend that you make sure that your game save is in some town when you do the transfer. I don't know if that applies to your own home or not.

For me, we also get AP from very tough things. Me and my party are all part spellcasters and when we come across something that we continuously pepper for a solid half-minute, it usually leads to someone getting AP. But when I think about it, maybe the level difference comes into play as well.

I hunt equipment that has good resists, then change material them up to give pv/dv, bless and upgrade. It's easy to get a shop up to 80, start pumping out change material scrolls, bless them, then have top-tier equipment right off the bat from "of resist" equips that have shitty starting stats. All my pets have high speed, so with good resists, they rape face.

A while back, I decided to look into the spell stock reduction mechanism that was implemented in Elona+, so I made a pure mage character. These are what i found out:

* Spell stocks start out in the normal values. In my tests, I noted Magic Dart, Nerve Arrow and Dark Eye - three spells that were easy to come by and was a lot of fun to spam.

* At level 1, the average stock consumption was:
- Magic Dart: 1-3
- Dark Eye: 2-3
- Nerve Arrow: 4-5

* Every once in a while, I take stock of consumption and noticed that as the spell levels go up, spell stocks are consumed less. This effect is most significant in Nerve Arrow, where at its current level, 26, it is already in the leagues of Magic Dart in stock consumption at 1-2 per cast. This is the same with Dark Eye, but the improvement was less significant because it was already very cheap to begin with.

* Currently, as my character is growing, I'm beginning to test higher consumption spells such as Mind Bolt, Raging Roar and Crystal Spear. I already noted an improvement in Crystal Spear's consumption, comparing its consumption from level 1, which was 10-12 stock per cast to its current level, 13, which uses only 9-10 stocks per cast.

* As soon as I get equipments that [Enchances your spells], I'm going to test and see if those buffs improve stock consumption as well.

Elona was apparently programmed in something called HotSoupProcessor.

HSP is apparently so outdated and foreign to current standards it stopped the Western Community entirely in its tracks just so they could port Elona to java which has taken them several years. They have working, but buggy builds now from what I last saw.

Meanwhile the Japanese created several of their own mods including the impressive Elona+ which seems to have fixed nearly all the balance problems present in the original Elona now as well as adding a shit ton of content.

Currently, I have no real idea how the java port is going. Though it might actually be usable soon since there have been working if buggy builds made. That was like months ago, maybe they're actually decent now. Should be easier to work with since it's java so you can try checking it out.

I have no idea how the java port is going to modify Elona especially in comparison to Elona+.

Which is something that is only obtainable in wizard mode and gives the mutant racial feat where you grow new body parts when you level.

However, in case what you were saying was not due to faulty memory than you've possibly used something new. As there is no secret treasure of Mani in the original Elona and nobody here so far has seen or mentioned a secret treasure of Mani.

If you really do remember getting such a thing, then give every single possible detail you can on where and how you got it. As well as switch your game to Japanese and post a screenshot of the feat in Japanese.

You still won't have enough mana. The stronger bosses can take 100+ turns to kill. Between buffs, heals and attacks you won't have enough mana. Certain things can simply not be wished for even in wizard mode. That includes all the items that give specific feats when used except for secret experiences of Kumiromi which allows you to choose feats and the secret treasure which gives the mutant racial feat.

Don't invest in armory. Invest in black market and magic shop. Get scroll of change material, bless them, then use them on artifacts with good attributes, such as "protects from" for status ailments, speed boosts, and other stuff.

I've heard people say that you can stack them now, but I never do it. It's usually easier to tell what's selling and what isn't if you just dump one on each tile.

And no, you don't really need to identify things unless it changes the sell price in a shop. For example, "red potions" and other things that might have a different selling price if you haven't tried it yet. I am almost totally sure you don't need to bother with equipment most of the time, but you'll probably want to identify it anyway to see if it's worth keeping. That, or use it to train your sense quality skill more.

I usually made a lot of money just doing quests to get platinum for skills. You need to do TONS of those, and it's extremely boring. You end up earning a decent amount of money as a side-effect. You can also make some decent but not great money by selling crap to shopkeepers that you find in the puppy cave. This is mostly books and rods, but you can mine some too if you have the skill. You'd need Kumiromi to get enough stamina to use it often enough, and riding to keep your speed from dropping low enough to barely be able to move. So mostly sell that stuff. Some people recommend whoring yourself off to rich shopkeepers, but you need decent charisma for that, and the shopkeeper needs to have a large amount of gold on hand for it to be worth it.

Oh, and if you're doing farming, keep in mind you can plant those extra seeds in other squares besides the crop tiles. It just doesn't work as well. But if you have like 50 seeds, it doesn't really matter if some are wasted. That'd get you some extra crap to sell before you can have multiple farms.

I know the level of the spell does matter, but not sure how much. People capturing very high level monsters have put a ton of levels into their dominate spells. I used to use dominate rods, and am just experimenting with the spells with the spellcasting boosts lately. But the magic device level definitely mattered in that case, so there's a good chance it's the same with the spell.

And yeah, monster balls are only easy to get in South Tyris. So if you want to wait until you beat Zeome, you can pick up something around that level easy. Otherwise, you're going to probably have to deal with spellbooks from the spell writer in the mage's guild.

Once you're geared, you'll probably last more than your pet will. The defender really isn't strong defense wise. Riding is still very worth it due to the increase in speed. The casting chance thing is a minor problem, since you're mostly using magic dart, nightmare and nerve arrow anyway. Even riding you can hit the success cap on those. Furthermore, the bike is a range attacker, so he works well with casters or anyone really.

It's technically easier, but recent changes in Plus make it so that you can raise a pet to be much more powerful than you could previously. Evolution is not going to save a pet from needing to be replaced, though. The evolutions that matter the most are the ones that add abilities, not stat boosts. For example, little girl's witch evo ends up with cheer and the punishment hex, and servants can end up with a few unique abilities as well. That being said, it's going to be pretty hard to get the hearts you'd need for the pets early on, and some might only be viable after inheriting the hearts from a gene file.

One problem when dominating new pets is that you're going to have to get your gene engineering to the level that you can add the parts that they might be missing. You can go without in some cases, but there's a big difference in a pet with a full set of artifacts.

The other problem is AP, which has had it's list of abilities expanded greatly. If you have really strong captured pets, they generally gain AP very slowly, so they can't take advantage of the new abilities that AP could get them.

You know, I did a bunch of stuff on pet evolution a while ago for the wiki, and that included testing out a lot of evolutions to find abilities. But usually I'd only play with the evo for a few mins at the most. When I did the witch evolution before, which is a magic heart after the littler girl, she had the rain of sanity SA and the magic bolt. But I started a new game just recently, and used one as a real pet. Not only does she not have rain of sanity, but she uses the punishment hex instead. She still has the cheer ability. I discovered a huge game breaking trick. You can feed the cute fairy cursed alcohol/stomafilla herbs to get tons of easy seeds. Midgame and beyond you probably have more stomafilla herbs than you know what to do with and alcohol is everywhere. This way you never have to do farming quest again. The hardest part of this is probably finding curse scrolls, but that's pretty easy too. I have 3 herb farms up and running now and like 6 veg/fruit farms.

Yes, and respawns often. The only way to capture her is with an astral light pen and a whole lot of gifts/tokens of friendship. The pens only drop from some of the angel enemies, and very rarely. You can wish for them, but blowing a wish on recruiting a low level Gwen might not be a great investment. You'd still need a ton of other stuff. It might be a decent easter egg for a gene file character, but otherwise you're better off just slaughtering her every time you see her to collect her jewel.

You'd probably need to be strong enough to finish off the North Tyris quest first, but after that it works pretty well. If a boss ends up being too tough, you can always go up floors too, since it randomizes like the puppy cave. Once you get too strong, you can head to the next 50 floors. There was an apparent bug that messed up the level progression in there, but I seem to remember seeing a line that said it was fixed in some changelog.

.100 exp per hit is pretty fast. Even at .001 exp per hit, as long as you have all animations off (including the one in the config.txt), is still pretty fast. Just hold 'f' and watch that exp fill sanic fast. Also, I think cnpc levels are capped at 350.

Seems like the golden knight evolution's ability has been changed to the heavy armor special action. I don't know if that's worth it or not. I wish there was a better way to find this out, since individual NPC changes never seem to be in the changelog.

It isn't really worth it to use the cNPC function for specific NPCs. It's more for adding new monster types that you encounter in dungeons. You can pretty much customize any monster you want in Plus to change it to what you want it to look and sound like. You can individually change the sprite with the Shape Change option, or use player character animated sprites. Their text can be customized by using the Change Tone option along with a text file that you customize in the user/text folder. Their job and race can be visually changed by using business cards and stone masks.
